I want to put an icon in the top left section of the window, and this is done using dbSetWindowLayout isn't it? But the third parameter doesn't seem to work as I load a .ico file...

OK so you can't load an .ico file using dbLoadImage... then how do you do it?

I only guess here, but you can try to add an icon file into your project as a resource (in Resource View right click and choose Add Resource -> Icon) and then use the resource ID in the function call. The resource ID is automatically associated with your resource and you can find it defined in resource.h file in your project.

If this doesn't work, you can use Win32 API directly to set it, but try the above first.

I've tried the resource thing and it didn't work. However, it seems after restarting the computer the icon cache was cleared and the icons now work in the way I originally intended them to. Thanks anyway.
