Well, the day is almost here. FPSC X10 that runs on XP. No not really you silly wits But there is almost as good! Now with a few steps and a bit of waiting, we should have a pretty good X9 imitation of X0. Not like its that hard to do for other game engines, but lets not go into that. Thanks to the Lemur mod, V1.08 and higher, a helpful youtube video and something I thought up myself you can soon have dynamic shadows (Except on characters, ammo and weapons), ragdoll, water, 50 enimies in a room all blowing your brains out and perhaps more important, timer based FPS. Or a good imitation at least, you'd have to ask S4 about it. First off, go Here to see the timer based FPS and water: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=121355&b=21&p=3
Go here to see how to make (slightly glitchy) dynamic lighting: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiBJWSOhec0
And finally how to make more than 2 characters attack you at once, it's simple. Go down to a characters physics properties and turn always active on. It should work fine.

Hey, thanks for the update. Although for the Lemur mod to compile you need to have Dark Lights and the Enhancement pack -- two plugins that I don't have. And in the end FPSC X10 is probably better... I wonder how Urlforce talked Lee into giving him the source for version 7.

AMD 4800+ (2.5GHz dual core), 3GB RAM (667 MHz), 320GB HD (7200 RPM), EVGA 8800GT Superclocked (factory OC'd @650 MHz, OC'd to 700 MHz), HP 22" Widescreen LCD, Vista Home Premium

Ummm lol.
1. Lemur Will be out in both source AND .exe, so you WON'T need anything but FPSC to run it.

2. Lee released the source a few weeks ago

Ya, no sooner had I clicked "Post Message" then I had read the rest of your thread, and noticed that.

Did he now? I had no idea. I don't usually browse these (FPSC) boards very often, I should make it a renewed habit.

Well it won't totally compare with X10 thats why I said 9 3/4 But X10's specs are ridiculous! Honestly people complain about Crysis's "awful" system requirements, your main buyers would have to be other X10 users

You are entirely correct, my friend! If you want to have X10 "options" (Not gonna use the word "quality" here for various reasons), in your games and be able to show off to more than 1% of the population before the end of the year, guess what? You can't go to X10 for that!

Everyone and their grandma should have a computer that can run (at least on low settings) an FPSC X9 game! But how many people are gonna be able to run your X10 games? (As of right now, let's not try to set a time scale on when EVERYONE'S gonna have X10 )

Well, it doesn't run with 30 FPS, but it runs at 9 pretty smoothly with 60 enemies, as S4Real showed us here

Who said FPS matters? It ran at a (normally) stinky 12 FPS but seemed to run fine (timer based FPS maybe?). And Fraps was running too! FPSC can run on this computer I'm on right now (an old converted 98) with 256MB of RAM and an old Pentium 3 processor. Oh and for Graphics: an Intel 82815 integrated graphics controller! Sure I get a max of 11 FPS but this thing is poo so what do you expect? Q2 runs fine but that's about it...

And by the time everyone has x10 and vista guess what will be out...next year?
Vienna. These new os's are getting a bit rediculous, i think im gonna go to mac. lol as if.

Once vienna comes out, is there going to be an x11? lmfao.
its a never ending cycle i sware.
I think x10 should of been x9 in the first place, because, to be quite honest all the features could be duplicated almost identically in x9...(Sigh) more buisness's trying to soak the consumer out of money. but ill leave it alone there.

since it seems like after vista a new os is comming every 2-3 years its a futile attempt to try and keep up.

You guys do realize that the dynamic shadows have been an option in FPSC since V1, right? Just change a setting in the setup.ini script. I even had a launcher that set it as an option.

@Bloodeath:

You know new video game consoles are released every 3-5 years, and guess what? People somehow keep up with it.

The only reason people have a hard time with OS's is because (like every other UPDATABLE POS that gets released) it gets released way too early with all these bugs! Then people gotta wait around and deal with them until the people responsible for it get around to fixing it and then releasing an update that, once again, hasn't been tested nearly as well as it should have been.

This is where the infinite cycle comes in. Bugs get fixed, then come more.

@fallen one : Lemur is using a method based on the timerbased system, this is where the fps do slow down but the game still keeps at its normal playing speed upto the point where your machine cant handle anymore performance increase.

The engine is using another system to keep the game at a stable performance speed, as with everything there are limits to what your machine can do but lemur will def increase your game and enjoyment.

Ive been noticing Lemur, seems like a step in the right direction, its a welcome addition that someone is coming from the community and sorting out the failings of fpsc.
