has anyone writtena game where they used include files, had an error, and have it refer to a line which doesnt exist or which would exist if it were not for the fact that the source code has been split over several files.

Is it just me who has this bug or does anyone else have it

Yeah. I've tried this one too..

I was making something (wich i don't remember what was).
Accidently I got a "Command Now Obsolet" error on line Who-Knows. But my source was not that long... except for my include file... Before compiling the include files and source files are being put at the end of eachother to get one LOONG source code (wich you'll never see)...

I you get an error past the end of your main source. Count the lines and when you reach the end, open your first include file and continue counting from where you got...

Actually the compiler is usually correct in the line number it reports.

The problem occurs when you include other files, the editor pulls in those files and creates one big source file for DBPro to compile, but doesn't convert the line number back when it reports the error.

Hopefully, this is one of the things that Guy will sort out with the new editor he's putting together ... or I'll have to continue working it out with my calculator

I did write a program that took the file the editor compiles from all the source files and adds line numbers too it. If you know visual basic or delphi you would be able to make one in 10-20 min.

Well

I sent an email to lee

heres what he said

The error line reported in the message box is the internal DBPro one. Guys editor however corrects for this when using his Include framework and puts you on the right line in multiple documents. If this is not the case, please send me a small example of a two source code project. FPSC I am working on has five source code includes and I get quite accurate runtime lines when I encounter errors. Maybe I don’t encounter that many errors or I just do not notice… If this does not happen for you, report the bug to the author of the editor (from real game tools).

Regards,
Lee.

Cheers Lee
