As Save Bitmap isn't going to appear in DB Pro until at least patch 7 or 8, I've shelved the idea of writing MatEdit Pro and decided to concentrate on improving MatEdit V1.6G instead.

It's now menu driven and modular. Major sections are now separate modules which act like plug-ins and appear on the drop-down menu automatically when you drop them in the Modules folder.

I'm putting the final touches to an SDK of sorts which lets you create your own modules. You can now customise MatEdit to do exactly what you want.

There won't be any licensing fees, so in theory you could even write a world editor module which would integrate with MatEdit and then sell it to other MatEdit users!

All I'm after is a few MatEdit users to test out the process for me by creating some third-party modules.

Anyone interested?

I could try, certainly, but I haven't coded in DBC for a while and I'm not that good at editor stuff .

It's very good to hear MatEdit is coming along and I love the new look. The plugins idea is brilliant.

Sounds interesting. I wouldn’t like to promise anything, but I wouldn’t mind having a go.

Cheers

Anyway, I’ve sent you that one.

I've now finished the SDK docs, the skeleton dba file and the module side of MatEdit so it's now available for download.

The skeleton file allows you to write a DB V1 program, (not tested it with Pro yet), paste it into the space provided, compile it, then drop it into the Modules folder. That's it!

In theory, you could write a game and integrate it into MatEdit, but that's not the idea really...

I've created a mailing list of module writers so e-mail me at tdk_man@matedit.com if you would like to be added to it. You will have to be on the list to get the download URL.
