Possibly the most Cliche'd models to texture, and I have it here lol. Note this was only my first attempt at a textured model. I used LithUnwrap to get my UV and photoshop to texture it (and Wings to model it, naturally).

Download attached if you want it (doubt you do), no credit needed if in the slight chance it was used,, its only a bloody barrel lol.

Edit
Might help if I attached the model.

Its pretty good, the only thing I can see that really bothers me is the texture at the top where the barrel starts to curve it looks like its a whole other piece when it should be just one piece.

Yeah, I found that weird. Considering that in Lithunwrap, it looked perfect.

It must be a problem with your normals. If your using Wings3D then try selecting all those edges and setting the hardness to soft.

Edit:
Well I was completly wrong you need to set it to hard instead of soft that fixs it.

Personaly if I needed a barrel for a game this would be very good. Great job!

The barrel is a bit too short and wide - also, you should try specular mapping instead of using quads for the bands. Check out my crate & barrel project here...

Well I disagree there, even though when I think of a barrel it is taller and wider I don't think there really is any rules on the size of the barrel, I think mostly is just opinon. Although I do agree he could use specular mapping instead of using quads. The funny thing is I almost pointed out your crate and barrel too.

Well the construction of the barrel just wouldnt work, with the bands where they are. What is making the wood bend like that? Construction needs to support the model in order to make it believable. Heres an example of a short, stout barrel - look at how many bands it has - that many bands is required for bending wood that way...

Haha, I was just trying to go for the generic barrel shape, as the model was more for texture practice than anything else.

John H, DB PROgrammer, thanks a lot for your Comments and Criticisms, it'll definately help me in the future
