Hi, If you are going to make a segment wall and sign pack, Well if i were to get the textures oof of google images and sell it for like 50 cents (usd) would it be legal? And if i cant would i be able to make my own textures and how? Thanks

So, you pull a texture of Google then sell it to us? Legal or not that isn't going to garner you much respect. Although I actually wouldn't have asked if I was going to actually sell them (although if some of us found out afterwards...)

By all means use them as an overlay, I quite often use stock concrete textures to give my textures a more realistic feel (make sure they are royalty free first, I pull some of Deviant art and usually, but not always, the person who makes it won't care what you do with it). But I stress, at least put some effort into it. Don't just crop it and try and sell it.

Mostly that's just convenience on my part. I could spend hours painting a base texture, which wouldn't be nearly as good as a photo.

If you want to learn to texture, you could always use the other function of Google, i.e. the one that searches for webpages. 'Photoshop textures tutorial' would be a good one, or Gimp, depends what you use.

Well i have gimp but i dont know how it would be of much use -_-
But still could i take texture off of google and edit them a little?

For the minimum of fuss, if you are ever going to sell anything - make sure you can truly say it is entirely your own work. If I plan on making say a building texture, I get an image of building, account for perspective, then draw over the outlines with the pen tool. I then paint in detail like cracks using damage brushes, and use filters for windows and metal supports.

Put it this way, if I took an image off Google and edited it slightly, I'd give it away for free under the premise that I could not guarantee its use for commercial purposes. So either use them as a guide or an idea, but don't use the original image where it can be blatantly identified. Someone will notice and someone will complain about it.

This may sound a little harsh, and I personally couldn't care less about people ripping my work, I know myself that it was my work, and they cannot take that from me. Others won't have such a relaxed attitude (especially concerning money, as soon as you start turning a profit heads pop up and want a slice).
