Thanks for the superb mod Nighthawk.

I really like your improved dynamic shadows system.

Hope you keep going with this.

!!! Did you say DYNAMIC!!!? I thought the shadows where only on the static entities? Maybe I missed something...
EDIT: I get it, got mixed up, any support for an Intel Centrino Duo duel core processor?

You have to trip dynamic shadows on via the Setup.ini file.....

Thanks for every comment

So, some news.

A new alternative efxMod Build has been released.
The efxMod 1.6 Free Edition "Alternative Build" may solve some performance/stability problems if you have those problems.

You can even try and look, if you get a better performance with this build, if you're using a nVidia graphics card of the most recent generation

Just go at
http://efx.helixsoftware.eu
and select your hardware components from the list
and you may download that alternative build

Stable Standard Build: 1.6.0-0141 (13,1 MB)
Stable Alternative Build: 1.6.0-0151 (16,1 MB)

There's no feature difference.

My windows aren't reflecting! (and before you ask, my computer is compatible with efx, and fpsc. I have shaders on, but i tried with shaders off, and the same thing happened.

So what do I do? (the windows reflected before i had efx mod)

PS> the glass is there, i can shoot it, and i cant walk through it...

You have to add the scripts "appear_applyrefraction.fpi", "default_updaterefraction.fpi" and "destroy_window_removerefraction.fpi" to your window entity

And if that doesn't work, disable the FPSC Shaders (-> Preferences)
Btw. it's not reflection, it's refraction

If you mean the FPSC Standard Window Reflection (Cubemap) - this isn't possible at the moment, as the water shader causes heavy problems with shaded segments/entities (which can't be fixed, even in the future)

one more question: what does enabling ambiance occlusion do?

Yes, actually I know about alt+tab etc. But the Game Window does not show up in my taskbar, so I can't get to it.

I will try the alternate install version...

It's a great mod, I am very appreciative. Thank you.

Hi NightHawk

The mod works fine on my other computer but does not work on my pc at home. It worked fine with your other versions of this mod but doesn't work with this current one.

My specs are:
Windows Xp, AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor, 2 gigs of RAM, Geforce 9600GT 512mb

Also to make the other versions work I had to put in to the FPSC directory two dlls wich it said it needed:

MFC71.dll
msvcr.dll

Do ya think you could help me out??

maybe your setup.ini was overwritten

Ambience or Ambient Occlusion is a pretty neat lightning/lightmapping feature

Why don't you search for it???

It's rather dark but you can slightly notice what the difference is

EDIT: Google Blogger doesn't seem to allow Imagelinks... wait a min

EDIT2: Finished.

Quote: "Also to make the other versions work I had to put in to the FPSC directory two dlls wich it said it needed:"

You have to put those DLLs into your System32 Directory, not in the FPSC Directory...

1. Any error messages?
2. Did you read the readme, completely?

Ohhhh... I get it... another reason why EFX is the best graphics mod for FPSC ever. Thanks.

EDIT:
For some reason, my setup.ini file keeps getting overwritten... this is really keeping me form adding ambient occlusion

You have to open it in Notepad and enter your parameters/values
Keep it opened and click on testgame
then press Strg+S some times (that saves the .ini)
the INI gets overwritten in the first... let's say... 5-10 seconds of the building process
but it's possible that your FPSC crashes because he can't read the INI when you save it exactly in the moment, where FPSC tries to read/write from/to the file

In the commercial version you should add water sounds, like splash and swim etc. I can't wait for Parallax Mapping!

it works with it, but it's on the non-compatible list, because the Geforce 8400 chip is really really low-performance

And if you tell me, it would run Crysis with very high graphics at 20-30 FPS or so, I can just laugh about that.

8400 has been added in the 1.6.1 hardware compatibility check, an Update that gets released very soon

I was talking of 8400 and Crysis... COD4 is not that performance hungry as Crysis...

Would the DB cartoon shader work with efx, I want an outline around my models, does efx solve some of the problems with DB shaders not working. I thought perhaps efx had got some of the shaders working.

I doubt it would, You'd have to implement that sort of thing into the engine irectly....perhaps something to consider for a future version to add into the Setup.ini, e.g: Cartoon=1?

I wouldn't bet on it geting added though, I think NH has enough on his plate as it is....
