can anyone tell which is best to use in dbpro and how to go about implenting it? i tried a sphere, it works, but i can't figure out how to texture it from the inside using db. any help is appreciated!

You need to set the culling flag off. SET OBJECT CULL <obj>, 0
This will allow your camera to see the inside of the sphere. Also, always position your sphere at the camera position during your game loop so that the sky will never move as your camera does.

I preach explicitely skyboxes. It is by far the best method to go in my opinion, but it is also the most tricky i'd say. I wrote a tutorial on it (it is still a little unfinished, but should do the trick) so check it out !
