Very nice. Looks good so far.

The creepiness; I'm not going to bother to comment because nothing ever actually scares me or creeps me out (might scare other people though!). Please don't view this as rude or anything.

I like the slight static image onscreen.

Keep up the good work!

(I should really work on my FPS...)

Hi! This looks very promising!

But could it be possible that you've compiled a version which uses a resolution of at least 1280x1024?? I tried the demo on my laptop(max: 1280x800) and get the error: "Display using 32 bit is not supported by available hardware at line 39"

Or do you see any other reasons?

The static sorta got annoying after a while lol. I'd suggest a bit more darkness and a flashlight. Also, try to make your levels have hiding spots where scary stuff would jump out at you, places where people normally would look e.g. a trash can. Even though it's a very early demo, I want to give you some ideas to consider. Good work so far, keep it up!

I don't have time to go through it again yet (though I will) but I got to the part where it told me to go back and when I walked up to something in the room I fell through the floor Prehaps the collision needs some tweaking? I'm not sure how much NG lets you twiddle with though...

You should use sparkys collision.. Its much faster and better than NGC!

What about dark physics? The collision system in thats a good one I think??

Plus I can add particles then, although I have zparticles it seems the zdepth is disabled on the particles.

Can't run the demo, because of the same reason as Azrael.

You shouldn't set the minimum resolution to a high value like that, because not everybody can run it, on laptops especially.

DarkPhysic's isn't half bad, sparky's seems better for raycasting n' stuff. Using them together doesn't hurt and thats what I do alot. Of course now that raycasting uses an easier x,y,z,x2,y2,z2 format if all the collision data is returned correctly I don't really have a need for Sparky's anymore...

He said in the WIP thread that he'll add an option for the display mode.

It's surprising how many of you can't display 1280 x 1024, though.

Laptops tend not to support resolutions, the maximum on mine is 1280x800 (widescreen)

really cool

i love the creepiness the tunnel stretching out, the guy walking in the shadows

the bad reversed controls were kinda annoying when you enter a room with the dead body

if you can add bumpmapping or shaders

dont hate people who rip you off, cheat and get away with it, learn from them

Ok, this demo was very good but there are a few bad points I need to make.

It takes for ages to get to the game and I'm not talking about loading. The "Naflash" "Presents" fading text took too long to fade. Trim a few seconds off.

The player can strafe faster than he can walk forwards. I was annoyed by how long it took to move around.

When I walked into the room with the dead body, the controls went weird long enough for me to think that the game had crashed so I was on the verge of pressing escape.

Apart from those few points, the game was good and it scared me a little bit. I look forward to the next demo.

(By the way, when I was walking along the corridors, I think I saw a shadow go round the corner. Was that just my imagination? It did scare me though)

Good demo, but to be honest in my opinion your first one (the one a you presented ~a year ago) was better. This one is much more mysterious and this static screen effect is quit cool, but all in all it was a bit boring. I never had to use my gun.
Imo the game is much to bright, to much light in all places, and the sound is a bit overloaded (silence also does it's job sometimes ).
However, of course you did a great job and I'm happy that you restarted the game, I'm sure we'll have much fun and sleepless nights.

Yea, I did like his last demo better, there was some actual shooting and it was rather neat. This one was a bit short and should have had some enemies in it.

Heres a small patch running at 1024 x 768 for those of you that cant run 1280 x 1024.

Just extract the contents into the original demo folder

i.e. C:Fighting Through Darkness **extract here**

It is a little buggy and the physics are highly experimental, but a lot of the issues mentioned have been addressed.

It doesn't have any of the titles like the 1280 version but they're not that important.

Update includes:

Mouse lock
Decreased title time (1280 version)
Physics
Weapon actually points at the crosshair
Screen no longer screws up in the labs
