Hello there,
I'm trying to import a model saved in the object format into milkshape. Everything works fine until I move something.
Then all the normals get messed up!!!

(yes it is a lego crocodile)

What's the problem?
Is it my milkshape version (1.8.2)? Or Vista?

In next post, I'll attach a zip with the .object file, a ms3d file with the crocodile saved rigth after loading the .obj and another one (corcodile2.ms3d), saved after moving a part by 0.

It looks like the normals aren't getting "messed up", they're just changing from flat shading to smooth. Dunno why though, I use blender

Modelled and rendered in Blender. Free software ftw.

importing with .x the normals like to change on you. it does look like smooth shading to me but if milkshape has something to edit normals or smoothing groups you'll be able to fix that problem in a jiffy

It doesn't have something to edit normals or smoothing.
I know, it looks like maximum smoothing.
I still need help.

I think it'll look fine in DB. Have you tested it yet?

Download Wings 3D, import it into that, select the entire object, right click > auto-smooth, export, and tell us what happens.

Try going to Faces -> Smooth all. I was having a similar problem in milkshape awhile back, and if I remember right that's what fixed it.
