FPSC Classic Product Chat / Lemur Team looking for (more) Beta Testers

(Don't know if this is considered a "Team Request" or not, since we already have a team and just need beta testers. Mods, if this isn't in the right place, can you please move it to the correct area? Thanks. )

Okay, so it dawned on me today that my last beta had been sitting on the board for over 3 days now and none of the testers have even realised that it was there.... regardless of my announcement sent out to all the tester emails.

Anyway, we need more testers. Preferably people how know how to throw together small little functional scripts when given new scripting commands to use, know how to check a level thoroughly for bugs that may have been produced by the beta, can write up a decent report, and can check the testing board OFTEN enough to see when new updates are available.

If you think you have what it takes, post here, or email me.

I want everyone to be aware of somethings:

1. There are people who are looking to rip off Lemur. I hope you who decide to join the team are not one of those people. If you are- I don't care, leave this thread right now and you can go on your merry way.
2. There are people who wish to just grab Lemur and disappear. If this is you, refer to number 1's example, and leave it at that.
3. Testing can be a fun, creative experience, but it can also be a gruelsome and tedious challenge. I'd say if you're not
willing to commit the hours we need, as well as the quality of bug reporting we require, disregard this message entirely and follow Lemur's progress from the "cilivian sector"
4. Your job as a tester requires decent knowledge of FPSC, ie folder structures, file formats, basic scripting knowledge, just owning FPSC doesn't
count. For instance- testing a mod may require you to put certain files certain places, if you can do that then a testing position is right for you.
5. Being a tester allows you to try new things that may or may not make it into the final product. Knowledge of said things are to be kept confidential. If you cannot
keep to yourself the features' test material/and or knowledge that the features exist, you may not
be a tester. We keep many updates a secret and we hope you can too.

And finally:

6. Falling behind in any of these categories may result in your "testing pass" being revoked.

If you can follow all of these "laws" and are willing to help us make FPSC better please reply to this message via email to Plystire with a "YES", your forum name, and your MSN, Yahoo, AIM messaging address, AS WELL AS your primary email address.

** BEING A BETA TESTER REQUIRES MEMBERSHIP TO INDIEGAMEDEV.NET, IF YOUHAVEN'T SIGNED UP, SIGN UP NOW, AS THAT IS WHERE THE HIDDEN BOARD IS**

A better description of the amount required would be nice, and if it's within what I'm willing to spend beta testing then I might sign up, heck, I would even sign up on IDG, but not until I know it won't be TOO much.. I am no script-er, I program in DB Classic, so ripping ideas is not going to be a worry, I have good knowledge of FPSC and how it all functions, so I might make a good tester.

What we don't want is a bug test report that is like:

"It won't work" or "I got an error"

We like long descriptive ones.
Here's an example of an earlier "BTR":

Also, attached pictures and system specs are very nice.

After you post your bug report, plystire or one of us will post an explaination of bugs(if ones are known) or we may upload a new test for you to try.

If you need any more beta testers, I'm your man.

I have a pretty extensive knowledge with FPSC and it's native scripting language, and I believe I would make a great asset to the Lemur Team. I have been working with FPSC for about 3 or 4 years, and have been developing games for about 5 or 6. If you need any info or just want to send me an email, hit me up at BrianDFrancois@gmail.com .

Thanks,
-Brian

Yes please.

I'm a qualified software tester by profession.

I recently tested Microsoft's Sharepoint 2007 and provided a full report which is being actioned by them at the moment to incorporate some of my improvement recommendations.

I'd be glad to lend my support for Lemur testing.

Great work so far by the way

Then again, i doubt they'l let me in. Iv'e looked to much forward to the fpsc effects too much for it to be true. Nothing good ever happens to me. Then again, i have won a pair of oven gloves before... Thats it.

Pity parties don't increase your chances of getting in.

We base our decisions on how active people are, their supportiveness of the community, and the knowledge of FPSC they've displayed before.

I started an fpsc game a while back, though I dropped it. I still use fpsc a lot though, so I still have good knowledge of it.

I'm backup up and ready to uninstall/reinstall FPSC this weekend. This would be a good time for me to test it if you like. I don't know if I can dedicate as much time as you would like to it.... that is business dependent, but if that's ok with you, then I'll try to assist.

Best.

I'm interested, I'm pretty new to the forums yes. But I have been making games for about 6 years now so I'm your man. No I'm not the cheating type, I respect other peoples work.
I am you might say a fair scripter, knowing HTML, Visual Basic (6.0, 2005, 2008) a fair bit of C++ and I understand FPI quite well.

pleawse sign me up.

I have a vista and xp pc, so I can test the engine on multiple platforms.

also, the shaders should be no problem because I have an 8800 - enough bragging - sorry

anyhow, I am really excited about Lemur. I bought x10 a while ago, and I realy want to make quality games for x9 again. I would be glad to test Lemur v2 for you guys.

Don't mind me asking, but what is your e-mail?

EDIT: you may nnot have heard of me, but I was the guy who managed to somewhat replicate Valve's portal in fpsc.

If you're still looking for even more testers, I could help. Even though my account is new, I'm not looking into ripping anybody off, and I can use my free time (I'm on spring break) to check for bugs. I also know what you expect from a report.

The type of testers that Lemur needs right now are scripters.

If you are incapable of scripting with new commands that are NOT supported or documented, then as of right now, we have no use for you. Sorry, that might sound very harsh, but we NEED to be able to test the new scripting commands, and without scripters, that's not happening.

Sorry to inform everyone that the Lemur team is taking a break due to Real Life issues. (Well... at least I'm taking a break for that reason.)

Anyone that has shown interest in beta testing Lemur will be informed when we get back to it.
