As promised I'm working on a new set of add-on weapons for Model Pack 18. I'll sell them through the TGC store when it opens in April.

First is a battle axe. It's cool using it with MP17&18 characters because you really have to time your attacks just right to avoid getting hit.

Next I'm working on a sword.

Here I am about to give a dwarf a taste of his own medicine. And it tastes like pain.

Looks really great! The overall look of the whole pack really reminds me of Dark Messiah...

Utter awesomness

I don't know if this has been answered but when do you think packs 17 and 18 will be X10 compatible? Or are they already? I'm not very up to date

bond1,

Looks great. Pain tastes good, from what I've been told.

Any chance that folks who've already purchased Model Pack 18 will be able to DL this as an update?

Thanks,

Seth Black

Updated first post to include a movie, download here (no sound effects yet though):

Movie of weapon: http://www.hyrumark.com/battleaxe.zip

The plan is to sell this new content on the TGC Store on an individual basis.

@Airslide: I still don't know how MP17 and 18 will fit into X10, if there will be an enitirely new melee system, or if Lee will provide a means to allow the X9 scripts to work within X10.

Doesnt look like the drawf does any damage to you at all, even though his axe hits you.

He actually doesn't hit me as he's not QUITE close enough, his first swing I knock him back so his doesn't connect. His second swing I'm turning and backpedeling, so he misses again.

But if it doesn't look right, that "hit range" can easily be adjusted in his script.

...makes sense. Looks like there's another complete pack on the way!

Ah, yes, that's rather problematic. Although, I know scripting handles reloading in DarkAI, so I'm guessing there is a command to freeze the darkAI unit. Prehaps this can be used to your advantage? If they act like a normal melee X10 character and then you modify the script to handle specific animations when in range that might work.

Yeah, that would be my last ditch choice, if there was no other option, that X10 melee is a little too generic, even with a new animation. I just really like my two-stage X9 scripts. I'll hold out until the store opens, then I think I'll have to come to a decision about these characters and X10.

Well, there's already the darkaiInit script, which you could modify for the when-they-see you. The healthless/shotdamage commands should still work, so you might be able to modify it a bit more. You've got to talk more with Lee about taking over animations though instead of DarkAI handling them. That's the main problem I see here.

Thanks, this will give MP18 owners 6 fantasy weapons, which is a great start.

I'm switching gears and working on some horror stuff this weekend.

My next medieval weapon I think will be a ball and chain. Remember the scene in that movie, when Mel Braveheart goes into that guys bedroom and bashes his skull in? That's what I'm thinking of, that when selecting the weapon the player drops the ball and it falls to the end of the chain, ready for swinging. Could be an animating challenge, but worth it I think to ooze that kind of style!

Looks great! For the chain you could use the physique modifier and make a skeleton that had a link for every link of the chain.
