Hey guys,

In a few games lately I've seen people casting shadows with grates that are just a texture, not modeled holes.

I'm using a chain link fence and I want light to cast through it. How would I do this?

I've put the lightmapquality up to 1000
Light mapping = full.

Thanks,
Duplex

It has something to do with the transparency mode, you might wanna check that out.

don't put the lightmap quality above 50, thats a start. Make sure its on full light mapping not just quick lightmapping.

You sure it's just a texture? Just because it's a transparent image doesn't mean the image will recognize it as "punched-through". It has to be modeled, correct me if I;m wrong, though.

Shaders also have to be on to cast shadow...right? Make sure it's static.

In memory of my bud, Shim Kangrey, who was too stupid to check his resources.

Yip I know because I do it as well. However what Might be a problem is the object is dynamic not going to cast the required shadows. It may be possible that the this fence has a shader applied which might be a problem....

The only other problem I can think of is this.Lightmapping it self test the object in a dark room with a bigger than normal light behind the object and see if that works....
