I just installed FPSC on my new Vista system. Any magic to getting it to run? It tells me I need to install DX9 from after Oct 2006 and then closes. I have some DX10 games I'm playing, so I need DX10. I tried searching, but all I could find was references to FPSCx10 and Vista.

You can have X9 and X10 at the same time on the same computer.....

Like Coffee Grunt stated, just get a copy of the redistributable from microsoft's website. that way, you can have the update, and you can include it in your games for others who don't have it yet.

Yes, you can have both versions on the same computer at the same time in that way (I've done it) but you shouldn't have to have DirectX 9 installed at all for FPSC X9 on Vista if you have DirectX 10 installed. I understand that FPSC X9 doesn't officially support Vista but I only have DirectX 10 and Vista and FPSC X9 runs without a problem so I'm not sure why you're having issues with that.

Or do what I do. If FPSC asks for certain .DLLs get them one by one .

Maybe if you change the compatibility to to run as Windows XP(sp2) and administrator. That fixes a lot of problems.

go to C:\Program Files\The Game Creators\FPS Creator
or whatever yours is under

right click FPSC-game.exe
click properties, click the compatibility tab, check run in compatibility mode, check run as administrator, click apply and close properties.

right click FPSC-MapEditor.exe, do the same thing as above

right click FPSCreator.exe, do the same thing
right click every .exe file you have in your root folder and do that.

this is a common fix for any xp prgram running on vista. I had the same problem you did till i did this now im running 1.08 just fine, and have the 1.09 beta working great as well.
