I've searched around the forum and it seems that I'm not the only one experiencing this problem: the SET MUSIC VOLUME command does NOT work !!! Volumes higher than 100 play exactly as the normal one (100)... but the help files say that a volume of 200 would play the music TWICE as loud .... man, I can't believe it's been an year since the last update (6.6b) and still this problem is free, out there ... please do something about it as this is vital for my project and without it, I can't do anything

This needs to be posted in the Bug Reports forum. If it's already reported, simply add your voice of concern to the existing thread.

I think it makes pretty good sense - see it as a volume percentage; 100 is max.
If you want half the volume, just use 50 instead.

yeah ... I myself was wondering how on Earth would they make the volume go higher than the file's initial max ... the only way they could do that would be with an advanced sound modulator right ??? like those sound editors which let you alter the volume in dB

first, sorry if I wasn't polite ... second, who knows, maybe I am a little brat... Third, you yourself are NOT polite by making such posts ... Fourth, I think people deserve to have their problems fixed ( or explained like in my case ) when acquiring a product and fifth, why is it that everytime someone asks for help, no matter what, someone like you comes and writes 3 lines of insults instead of 1/2 line of help ??? huh? explain that non-jumped-up-jerk

Excuse me if I have the wrong end of the stick but, the volume in your game can only ever go as loud as the system volume and/or if you have an external speaker volume control (like on Creative Labs speakers) this also determines the max volume, right?

Much good work is lost for the lack of a little more.

i agree with twinsen, virtual x's comment was uncalled for...when virtual x owns the company then he can make all the smart a** remarks he wants and go broke treating people this way...next time just try to answer the mans question without disrespecting him...twinsen, there is a program called magic music studio which can amplify your sound file 25% at a time until you get it as loud as you like it...good program...there may be some freeware programs for music that can also amplify the sound for you...pirate

thanks, pirate

I don't think he really wanted it amplified, he's just pointing out an error in a help file it seems.
As far as I know, the documentation isn't updated very much but it doesn't really matter in my opinion, as you learn that "ok, this wasn't right and therefore I won't do it like this".

pirate: thanks for the helpful info and for agreeing with me
Rudolpho: you're right about that even if a little update for the files would be nice the most frustrating thing is when u do things "by the book" and the book itself is wrong thanks anyway guys
