Hello!!! I just want to know what program can I use in order to make a .DBO 3D model as all other software seem to export models to a wide range of formats, EXCEPT .DBO ... even AC3D or 3D Canvas Pro don't support this ... and when I say I want a model, I mean I want it to have both textures and animations inside ... DBPro uses this kind of files so they have to exist ... please help me and thanks

Could you help me treat my injured Dino-Fly ?

Just be sure to save your work in the format the program supports natively. I don't think there are any out there (yet) that will load a .DBO file, so if you export to .DBO and exit the program you're stuck with what you've got.

Well, can't you just load your model into Dark Basic as a .x file (most 3D programs are able to export this) and then export it to .dbo using "save object"?

@Alsan - That sounds like a great answer when you are in possession of the model in X format already, but in all other situations, its sounds somewhat trite. Plus, there is a distinct possibility that the X model is not able to be converted into an equivalent DBO object. Its pretty complex, actually.

So, I guess I'll check out Fragmotion, too! btw, I like AC3D. I might get it, because 3D CanvasPro is not liking running on my system. That is very disappointing.

EDIT: WOOT! You can script it with XML or Lua!

Most all of them will load, animate and export X format. The issue then is to get it exported so that it works with DBPro.

My copy of 3DCanvas is totally broken as far as exporting X. I am very frustrated with it, and it probably is my own stupidity, but...I still got a $130 rock.

MilkShape will do it, but I think that the trial only exports a static mesh, no animation. Alot of people use MilkShape.

Blender does it, but is an ugly mess, as far as I am concerned...some swear by it, I swear at it.

Oh, Wings3D, Anim8or, there are tons of them. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting one, actually.

EDIT: Sorry, we're in 3DChat already!

What I've had to do with a couple of models so far is work with them in FragMOTION, export them to Milkshape .ms3d, open them in Milkshape, then export them to .X using the Milkshape DirectX8 exporter. It's a messed up way to do it, but I couldn't seem to get it to work any other way.

I use gamespace light or wings to export to .x they both work great. It's super easy for gamespace just click save as and for wings 3d higlight the model and export it to .x They are very useful free modelers. Best,
