I was wondering if I could use;

Google SketchUp for modeling,
Wings3d for texturing,
and Wings3d again for x file conversions.

Will this work and is it all that I need?

Well I think sketchup messes the mesh up for FPSC. I would use UV mapper or something similar for UV mapping. And Paint.NET, Photoshop, or gimp for texturing. But I don't know how you can texture with Wings, but I don't use that much..
