Have you ever wanted some comments on your game, yet no one seems to be saying anything useful?
Have you ever wanted the latest news on some of the games being developed around here?
Have you...?
I could go on and on... But I won't.

The Gunn3r Games Informer is a forum-based magazine designed to show off your work in game development, as well as give you helpful comments and critques about it. It has a strenuous review process, and reviews are not the only thing on the list. The Informer also includes interviews with recognizable names about their games that they are working on. Along with the reviews and interviews, the Informer has a section devoted to FPSC tutorials that go step by step through the processes. The articles section will feature different pieces of writing that anyone can submit, and everyone can view. If you want to get your FPSC game publicized for little to no effort at all, then submit an article. With an article submitted, you are immediately entered for the drawing of Featured Artist/Game Developer of the Month, and could win prizes. Each month, the Informer will hold a contest for game developers. Whether it's creating a map in FPSC, or simply a model competition, the winner's will receive prizes such as a free copy of Tristan Craft and the Lost City, a free TGC Model Pack (Purchased by Gunn3r Games) and more. If you're looking to start a new game, and all you have is an idea, then post up the idea in the Game Ideas section of the Informer, and have other people comment on it. You may even get some help with your project!

If any of this intrigues you at all, head on down to the Gunn3r Games and sign up to see all of the content available.

Cool! I'll review it if you PM me a link to the demo. Sign up for the forums, and send me a personal message. I'll get a review up by the end of the week.

I do. It seems really well thought out. Can't wait to see it in action.
All we need is a community. We're building it up slowly, though.

Something that I didn't mention in my first post:
You don't need screens to talk about your game at the Gunn3r Games forums. Just post it in your game ideas, and people will comment on it.

Yeah. No problem. I just posted a review for Dude232's new game, Reality Check. That's the in-depthness that I review with.

Would you need any extra hands for reviews, etc? I was thinking of doing something like this, but that kinda died...

Besides, this looks more fleshed out and I'd love to contribute. e-mail me if you want a writer.

Of course it's helpful! I just started building a game, and then this came up. I was never expecting the oppurtunity to get it reviewed on the very day that I started.

lol, found your message in spam next to "viagra" and "free rolex"

More to the point, just tell me where to start!

Also, I couldn't remember if it was you who offered to pitch in. I've had these two reviews to do for several months now, but I keep forgetting! (Note to self: MUST DO THOSE!)

I'm straying off topic again, aren't I? Stop it pus, STOP IT!!!

Alright. So, first, you've gotta make an account, and then I'll put you on the Informer team. That'll allow you to post topics in the sections of the Informer that no one else can. The reviews are fairly in-depth, but don't use the ones that are up there as a model. I'm going to do a review of Codename: BLAMMO and post in the new format. The new format might be the way we review things, who knows. Anyway, it's good to have you on board, and part of the Informer team, Pus.

I've been doing some thinking. Because of homework, my pre-existing writing outlets and individuality among FPSC reviewers, I may back out now. I still intend to continue my public reviewing service- I'm hoping to become the "go-to" guy for FPSC reviews (since no-one really did any before my thread-HAHAHAHAHA!!!) Obviously, this would conflict with my writing FPSC reviews for a seperate outlet (ie:games informer) Then there's Untitled magazine, which I've needed to catch up on for some time. All things considered, I think I'll decline the offer. But if things don't work out, I'll be sure to contact you.

Wow. I really haven't payed much attention to this. Sorry about that... I understand the other stuff. I've gotten some help in other places, and the Informer has started. The issues will come out seasonally, so that we can have more content that is more refined than pushing for a monthly issue.

Whenever you feel like you want to review FPSC games, DBP games, or any other independent game, go ahead and sign up with a username that I'll recognize, and I'll put you on the Informer staff.

I know this is a bump, but there is some new info about the Informer.
Each season, a PDF will be released with all the reviews, previews, and commentary that was made through out the season. The summer one looks to be released on June 16, and will include 2 reviews and 2 previews, as well as a short commentary. The membership for the Gunn3r Games forums has been changed from automatic to member activation, meaning you have to have your account approved before you can join. This is to protect against spammers. We've already had some pretty bad spam that we've had to deal with already, but that's behind us, and it shouldn't happen again.

Achievements, anyone?

That's right. Gunn3r Games now has achievements in all of the games. Whether you're fraggin' each other in an official Tournament, or just playing through Tristan Craft and the Lost City, you can earn achievement points. What do they do?
Can you say Gift Cards? The achievement points will build up and you can use them as gift cards in the *cough* Can't say any more. *cough*

We are looking for developers who would like to contribute some models/music/HUDs/whatever to the download section. If you only want certain people to have your models, then let me know, and I'll put the download into the higher model categories. Otherwise, I will use them to fill in the gaps for the less exclusive models. If you are interested in doing this, email me, or post here.

I am currently learning DBP so that I can add in a plugin for FPSC allowing the achievements to be automatic, similar to an Xbox 360. If you know how to do this, could you please help me learn how? I'm very curious, and willing to learn.

I may release the achievement system if I am able to get it working, so FPSC games will be able to have achievements.

The first issue of the Gunn3r Games Informer has been released. Included is a in-depth look at three of the games over at Gunn3r Games, 3 reviews (including 2 never before seen reviews) and a hard hitting editorial section that isn't afraid to go places that don't need to be gone. If you have any suggestions or comments on the Informer, please post them in the Informer Discussion boards at Gunn3r Games.

Thanks again to reaper2go for his editorial.

Petty? Interesting. I'll have to tell Reaper2go about it. He hasn't posted on the TGC forums. He's not really a talkative guy. I was amazed that I could get this much out of him. He's more of an observer.

I will replace the editorial next time with some articles written by Gunn3r Games Forumers.

I think that might be a good choice. However, the editorial is, for the most part true, but it probably will cause quite a fuss when more people read it...

Hey Gunn3r, could I write the next editorial? I've written blogs and stuff in the past and it seems to be one of my strengths. I can make it entertaining and informative and I can easily find things to write about.

You've now read the first copy of the Gunn3r Games Informer. The responses to it have been good, and it's brought 2 new people over to Gunn3r Games. We are now looking to release a little more often, and to do so, we'll need your content and articles inside the Informer. As a guest writer, you could write an article on a mod, a specific game, or your game. You could even write one on the FPSC V2 Migration. If any of this sounds like fun, or you want to get your work published, submit an article to gunn3r@gunn3rgames.net for your chance to get it published. Winners will receive 2 achievement awards: Your First Write and Contest Winner. Submissions must be at least 300 words and be relevant to the game dev community.

Contest ends on August 15, 2008.

@Pus in Boots, you're the editorial writer. You don't have to submit if you don't want to.

I also edited the post about the achievements because the premium store is no longer planned. We will be doing something a little better.

Ok. So we'll have an entry from Pus In Boots. Who else? It'll be a pretty easy contest to win for him...

Easy gift card points here, people. Just write something about a game on these boards. Minimum of 300 words.

I haven't really followed Ply's Mod too closely recently, but I'm sure he's working on a newer update (Slowly, but surely). Are you going to cover the current version that is publicly available or are you going to cover what Ply is working on?

Well, he's released a beta, so it could be a "taste of things to come" type review. Looking at the beta and saying what Ply plans for the full version once he's able to work on it.......
