Hi im thinking on buying DB Pro,im new. My question is is it possible to make games like EvE Online with this software? i want to make a Space Trading game with research etc. But before i buy the software i would like to know if its even possible?

Plus do i need to buy a million diff plug-ins? or can i do what i want to do with just DB Pro? I ask cause i have only 80 bucks to spend right now.

Thank you all for the help.

Riftspace is a Space Trading Game made with DB Classic, the older version of DarkBASIC. They went on to make Evochron Alliance which is a massive space trading game. DB Classic did not have support for plugins, although you could call other DLLs if you had the know-how and plenty of time. I don't know if the Star Wraith guys used any.

So yes - it's possible. The other part of the formula is your own abilities

But that doesn't mean you should buy DBC instead. The guys that made the games mentioned must be so experienced that they can do it without the features that DBPro provides. I strongly suggest DBP if you want to get anything as good as this (and yes, it is possible, lol)

Don't you just hate that Zotoaster guy?

You're newly registered, probably with a new email address.

btw, it may be possible with the software, but its still a enormous undertaking, that will cost many years to complete

Instead of makeing a new topic ill ask here,hope this will be the right place for it.

As you guys know i want to make a Space tradeing game with Research,tradeing ofcorse and other stuff. Im going to hold off on the multiplayer part till im used to DB Pro and learn how to program with this language.

I have a few problems that might get in the way;

1) i dont know how to 3D model stuff like ships etc.

2) i dont know how to do any kind of art like bmp stuff in photoshop or other non 3D modeling programs.

3) where do i start? lol,im a total newb.

4) will i need to have alot of other external stuff like a game engine,AI,etc? Im no where near rich

5) I am not the greatest with math,i only know minus and plus and some multiplacations <sp?>,i mean i dont know any advanced math like trig,geo,algerbra,etc.

6) Most important,if i ever get this game made will i have to pay any expensive royalties to the makers of DB Pro or its company? I ask casue i dont want to get in trouble or have there lawyers knock on my door lol.

Thank you inadvance for the help.
