I just came with an idea, why not make the DB showcase interactive. So you see all the games and give them a score. That way you will be more pushed to make a game, so we will see more games finished. It could be something like the 20-line challenge. Each month the number one gets free DBDN membership. If that game was at number one the month before already than you can give the price to number two. But you could leave the prizes. What about this idea, what do you all think?

Might be a nice idea for a mini-compo... needn't be any prizes, I just like the sound of everyone trying their best to do a showy DBP tech-demo...

But only one person can do this, Rich would it be easy to make such a score thing in the showcase?

This way of 'marking' may be useful for establishing the most POPULAR games/style but it is going to be very depressing for those whose programming interest is outside the common run !
And the marks are going to be used to decide whether a game is worth downloading, ...hence a reinforcement of the judgement and no chamce of reversing the situation.
True, this is the way life goes most of the time, but there's no need to consciously encourage it !!
A seperate permanent competition perhaps for certain TYPES of popular game?
cheers .
