I finally managed to have a go at a custom FPSC character.

Clearlly I've lots to learn on the modelling and UV mapping side but I guess you've got to start somewhere!

Thanks to Distubring13 and Programador Hispano for their tutorials

Do you have the rights to that texture? I'm not trying to accuse you of anything, I just want to make sure that everything is legitimate.

Looks like the textures have been ripped from a Blizzard game.

Bobert: I have known Higgins alot more longer than you so I know its people like you who start the arguments off he ticks in to have a go back so I just trying to keep these "little arguments" from starting. So now can we go back onto topic please.

All

I was pretty happy just finally getting an FPSC character done so getting some nice comments aswell is great.

@Nickydude. Thanks for the soundset you've provided, it sounds great when your fighting him now. I really like your audio work.

I'd planned to upload the character tonight but dont want to break any rules. I downloaded an ork picture to UV map from but now I'll try painting my own.

Hopefully I'll be able to refine my model a bit before releasing also.

Looking forward to it.

Addendum:
Just watched the video. I like it. Do whatever you can so you can upload it. I really appreciate your effort.

We'll do Flatlander. I'll try and get the re texture done over the weekend.

Thought I'd share this as I created a normal and specular map for the original texture used which produced an alternative look so I'll probably make some for the new texture aswell.

They need some work but it was encouraging to see a difference.

Also I thought I'd mention that when getting the character into FPSC X10 I noticed that using mutiple textures didn't seem to work as it does in X9. I originally used 1 texture for the orc and 1 for the metal texture on his ammo container.

Once I made the model a single group with a single UV map texture it worked fine though and as this approach works for X9 I guess thats the best way of doing it to ensure compatibility with both versions.

Off topic:

OK, where did you get the water and how did you manage the reflections. Nice scene. Even has fog.

That must be in X10?

I don't have x10 and I've never seen X10 in action, but I do have a sense of humor.

Yup, that was certainly my assumption since I was sure it wasn't something that X9 could do.

@Beast E Gargoyle

I made a uv map for him a while ago but haven't got round to doing a good job on a new texture for him. My texture editing skills are ok but making one from scratch isn't my strong point.

It took me a while just to work out how to make a decent uv map for him so i kind of under estimated this part of the process. Its more time consuming than I would prefer.
