Well I have given up on importing my own weapons into FPSC for now...so now ..the next hurdle of fpsc in truly making your own game..trying to make my own segments.

I follow the video tutorial well, and can actually make the room segments just as in the video by building it with the already provided floor and wall meshes.

But...when I try to build by own floor/wall from scratch..same dimensions and all, I import it as .x, then load it it in segment creator to make a segment from it.

The problem is when I try to move it around. When I load my custom floor mesh, it appears in the center like it's supposed to, but when I click on it to drag it down to the floor, the mesh completely dissapears! But its still showing as in use on the window on the right.

Why are my custom meshes dissapearing from view when I try to move them around? I can't do anything if that happens. The regular supplied floor meshes work just fine and can be dragged about by clicking them with the mouse.

I even tried an experiment, imported the regular mesh into 3d modeling program, saved it without making any changes, and re-exported it as .x. But when I load it, this too does the weird dissapearing thing.

Also, when I make a texture for the mesh, it wont even show up in the file browser. It is saved as a .TGA, and even if I replace the name of my texture with a default name of one of the provided textures, it still won't show up. I made sure the texture is 24 color and also compressed it to be under 1mb, it's the same size as the other textures so it should work

Oh, I have Firma and I do use it often.
It is very easy to use and works well.

But right now I want to make my own segments, including meshes..things like rock meshes and stuff for segments.

I'm still trying to figure out what to do with this segment creator but no luck so far.

any one else know how to really make real segments other than firma

yea yea don't say "use the search button blah blah blah" I do and I have and I know how this is supposed to work in theory but it's just not for me. I cant get the meshes I make to work properly as I stated above. I cannot move then in the segment square; they just dissapear as soon as I click on them.

The segment editor doesn't work unless you have a graphics card, integrated graphics cause the segment editor to crash when you try and move anything.

well what do you mean by "integrated"? to me integrated means those cheap computers that dont have any sort of dedicated card. I do have a laptop, but it is a Geforce GO 7900 GTX and I consider that dedicated...

But anyways I guess it just doesnt work for laptops? thats weird...the cards are supposed to be the same, just clocked a little lower usually.

It sounds like a video card problem, and as far as textures go, you must name them "texturename_d2.tga" so the editor reads them properly.
