Is there any way to have a gun and ammo placed on top of a table?

First of all, welcome to the Forum.

Yes, hover the cursor (with the gun that you want chosen) over the table and press 'Enter' on your keyboard.
This method should place the gun on the table or any other object for that matter.
This is all in the FPSC PDF Manual which I suggest you have another read through for more ways of doing things in FPSC.
