Here is my latest fantasy addition, a morningstar flail! Oh and the wizard too...

Be sure to check out the video clip, I ran a full blown dynamics simulation on the chain, so it sways and moves realistically. I love it!! It was a bitch to setup, but the results are worth it, and looks a whole lot better than keyframing would. For those that care about this stuff, there is one bone per every two links on the chain. Check out the cool wizard walk too...

Video clip: http://www.hyrumark.com/morningstar.zip

For those keeping count, this makes a total of 7 fantasy weapons available through Model Pack 18 and the TGC Store, and a whopping 38 Fantasy characters!

Thanks, I'm recording the sound effects today with my cool new field recorder, I'll be jostling a chain around for the sound effects. It'll sound great!

I forgot to mention (for those that care) that I'm also using a gravity space warp dynamic in this simulation. It's cool because I can animated the hand, and the chain will swing around yet always "fall" to the correct position because of gravity. I can envision all kinds of cool things using this control rig, not just limited to weapons.

Thanks again. I've recorded the sound effects for this weapon, and I must say that it makes a huge difference to the feel of the weapon. The sounds really complement the animations. It's been uploaded to the store.

I'll have the first of a set of scifi/horror characters done probably tomorrow.

Thanks, that is greatly appreciated. But I am having so much fun right now recording my own...I've been a long time user of Sonar (ever since it was called Cakewalk Pro Audio 9), and ever since I got this compact flash recorder and a nice mic I've just been recording EVERYTHING, then doing the editing in Sonar.

The first character is more Doom3 horror, while the second one I'm working on is more Silent Hill type horror. But they fit together nicely.

Great!
I'm sure you'll post some teasers for those too.
I just wish that TGC was nearly as fast with getting the store done as you are with cranking out these models.

Bond, are you interested in adding AirMod support to some (or all) of your weapons? The thread is here:
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=127029&b=21

On the last page you can see some videos of the latest updates. Errant is already really, really into the mod, and since it is open source, other modders can use it with ease. I'm hoping it will be part of the official FPSC build by migration. Anyways, I think you'd be particularly interested in the ability to have up to 2 additional firing animations that are randomly selected to be played (so 3 different animations can randomly occur) and the new blocking ability, which, using a new script command aswell, allows the player to block an enemy's melee attack (although the character's script must be modified for it). There's also a noscorch flag for the gunspec to keep a weapon from placing bulletholes (ideal for melee weapons, as are the above) and the ability to change the distance of the weapon's sound (so melee weapons don't alert enemies like a gunshot would, for example).

If you're interested I can send you the latest beta of 0.6, which is currently unreleased, to check out these new features.

EDIT: Oh, and since all of the new features are gunspec settings, your weapons will still work in standard FPSC without further modification.

Really great stuff Airslide! It's very cool what you're doing, and if this stuff gets into the migration, I will certainly add support for it.

My main goal right now is to get as much content as possible into the TGC Store. The prospect of modeling as a full time job is very quickly becoming a reality, rather than just a hobby to earn some spare cash. But that also means I have to be smarter about how I work. For example, no longer can I take that extra week to polish a character to absolute perfection, when I could use that time to have another one nearly completed. I'm not saying I want to release substandard junk, but I have to be smart about where I draw the line and call it "done".

Oops, I'm rambling. Yes I will add support if this stuff makes it into the migration. I imagine it eventually will if Errant is making his stuff work for it, that's strong incentive for TGC to include it.

Here's a pic of me looking at the ceiling. Still looks pretty good though, since FPSC doesn't support different animations depending on the direction you are looking.

My original goal was to have the spiked ball fall through your monitor and hit you in the face when you look up, but that didn't work.

Thanks, I know that's a big no-no in nextgen land, but for X9 stuff I'll almost always throw up a couple omni's, fiddle with the material settings, and do a bake as a finishing move. I just like it so much better than the flat even lighting look. Especially for weapons, where they are primarily viewed from just one angle.

So if I went to fpscreator.com and bought mp18, even though it does not advertise all 7 weaps and 38 chars, I would still get them all for the same 19.99 U.S.D. price?
