I have loaded in a BSP map using dbLoadBSP ( "batcula.pk3", "batcula.bsp" ) but it's too dark.

I have tried:

dbSetGamma ( 511, 511, 511 );

and

dbSetAmbientLight ( 100 );

but the map stays dark. Has anybody any dies please how to make the maps brighter?

bsps are lightmapped as part of compiling the map to a bsp. What editor are you using? I use Quark, or GtkRadiant. You must do a full compile, with the proper switches set. You also must have enough lights in the map to work with.

Here is a QIII map that is lightmapped by Quark, with no additional lighting applied:

Are you saying that your map is darker than that? If so, go back and make sure that you are using the right compile options.

Thank you for the info. Yes - very dark but not in the Quake 3 game.

It seems weird that there is no way to alter the 'world' brightness in GDK.

I wonder why you can't do basic stuff.
