My stuff isn't loading. I think I have all the directories right, but I'm not sure.

This is what it looks like:

+VGCD
--Solution
--Intellisense Database
-+VCGD
---Main.cpp
---Project
---Debug
-+Media
--+media
----crosshair.png
----skybox2.x
----1
----2
----3
----4
----5
----6

This is Main.cpp:

Don't make fun of me, its a work in progress. I'm new to Dark GDK and multi-file things. I'm used to DOS apps.

Never mind, I fixed it. Now my skybox is blue, when it should be a starfield.

Erm... If you are seeing blue it probably means that either your skybox didn't load or you are missing textures...

That's my guess... but I could always be wrong...

.x files contain the texture names in the file itself. Have you modified skybox2.x to use your textures? You can use Notepad to do it. sky boxes use 5 textures. The sky spheres in DarkMatter I use 6.

I took the model from one of the sample games, then I renamed the textures themselves.

For the case of the skybox2 model in the samples it uses 6 textures named 1,2,3,4,5,6...
If you rename your custom textures to 1,2,3,4,5,6 then they should work... and MAKE SURE your textures are in either BMP or TGA or PNG or any other texture format... otherwise they will not work...

That's my insight... I COULD be dead wrong...

Well, its odd. They worked perfectly fine in a different project. Same textures, same .x file.

I AM THE ALL MIGHTY CORNHOLIO! Do you have TP for my bunghole?

Maybe it's an internal problem in your code... Keep searching... That's happened to me multiple times... Also in your hierarchical folder list on the first post I noticed you have a media folder inside another media folder... Do you have that covered?

Or sometimes its simpler than code... and you skybox is to TEENIE WEENIE, or too HUGE to see! Sometimes the face normals aren't what ya think. Turn the CULL OFF until you "Get it working" then TRY turning CULL back on. this will let you know if its inside out or not.

Culling ON is preferable, but if you can only see your skybox with culling off, it won't kill your frame rates ... at least I REALY REALLY doubt it.
