Most probably... yes... Every SDK is different in some way or another (that's sort of obvious because obviously they are different versions)... The resources that DGDK uses from DXSDK are all in the Aug2007 package... Who knows they might be in some other package too but can you really be sure... If TGC wanted to make DGDK "compatible" with all other SDKs they would have to rewrite parts of the engine and probably remove some features too... Now why the hell would TGC want to do that?!?! So if you are a developer using DGDK you're gonna have to have the Aug2007 SDK... BUT that doesn't mean you can't have newer versions too... Every SDK is independant and doesn't require or associate with any other SDK so you can have as many SDKs inatlled on your machine as you want... I have the March 2008 and August 2007 and November 2007 installed on my machine...
And for end users who will play your game and use your product they will just need DX9 runtime... No specific version or anything... Only us developers have to worry about that...
