Download version 1.0e99: Link

The Little Arcade Pack is what I do to distract myself from the chore that is Organized Crime. Writing Wartorn is slow but steady, and I'm mostly fixing errors. Wartorn: Battlefields was lost in a hard-drive crash, but I'll be restarting that later. Seadome is turning out a little too ambitious for what is left of the team, since more and more of them appear too impatient to wait for the coding arts. Brood is still in pre-planning phase, but after lessons learned from Seadome I'm making sure the entire team will sit through or not start at all.

Luckily, this game can keep me working with simple stuff, hopefully increasing my personal skills to the level that I can do some more impressive stuff myself and be less dependent on the whispy assistance of people around here. As people say: if you can do it yourself, you know it'll get done.

There are a few design goals for this project.
- Five different small games.
- No game can be based on the same idea or principal.
- Each game must be smaller than 5MB.
- The total must not exceed 15MB.
- Controls should be limited to 5 buttons per game at max (excl. menu).
- The complete pack should be done before June.

The first game is BlockBuster. BlockBuster is nearing completion, and I hope to have it done by next week. The theory was posted on the Game Design Theory board. I decided to go for simple 2D sprites, although the game background needs some visual work.

Some screenshots here.

Looks cool, shame this got bumped right down the page, I didnt see it earlier. Shame about seadome too, though Im party to blame for that :X but who knows, you might pick it up again at HKU where people are a lot more dedicated to their projects (because you get credit for them XD)

edit: this is the one you posted about earlier in game design right?

Yup. I've entered for the HKU. I think I'm doing the assessment assignment based on Organized Crime .

Great job! I didn´t find any other bugs other than the one you mentioned.
I think that you should add an outline to the tutorial text, so it becomes easier to read.

I tried it. I was actually pretty surprised by the gameplay. It works pretty well, though you might want to have the back end fill up slower than the front. Cool game, I'm interested to see what the others are.

Heh, it was a nice idea, wasn't it? I think I should revisit it later, when I get down to some simple 3D stuff. For now, I'm doing some really, really simple projects just to keep myself busy. I made some 'falling tunnel' game in which you need to dodge rotating ventilators, and I'm trying to decide whether or not to join in on the text-compo. I might add the tunnel game to the arcade pack, as there's this little twist in it that does make it quite challenging.

Hey, a nice little game, Thanks!

A Suggestion...
You shouldn't change the color assigned to a key,
for example....always leave the green color assigned to the 'a' key.
Changing the key/color assignments just makes it too frustrating to play.

Thanks again!

Heh, I do that once or twice to wake up the people a bit . Maybe I should take it out indeed. This one might've just gotten me into my Game Design course .
