How many of you wish you could DO something with your SketchUp models (if you don't have pro, but who does)? So anyway, I was surfing the web (As I always do) and I came across this nifty tutorial (tell me if you've heard of it). So I decided to try it, and it worked! I then decided to copy it, edit it and put it into PDF format... So here you go:

[EDIT]

This is where I got the tutorial: http://alexvaqp.googlepages.com/sketchupblender
(Though the grammar is kinda annoying)

Ruccus, the file is virus free, I downloaded it and it is just fine, although as I do not use sketchup I didn't really read the tutorial

Wow... I'm hurt... I'm a veteran member of the TGC forums for over a year with a few contributions to boot... I't sad when we live in a day and age when you don't think you can trust anyone... Well if you won't open the PDF, here you go:

Convert Google SketchUp to Blender:

Google has a free, functional version of SketchUp. It's a very good modeling tool that is easy
to texture.

The free version exports in kmz (Google Earth 4) format.
Now, let's see how to bring one of these models, textured, from the free version of SketchUp
to Blender.
Kmz format (Google Earth 4) is in truth a compressed file with the 3D model format "Collada"
inside, textures and other information.
The Process:

1. We export from SketchUp in kmz (Google Earth 4) format.

2. You go to the folder where the kmz file was exported, and change the extension of
"file.kmz" to "archivo.zip"

3- Unpacking this file will leave us a two folders and two files. Inside the "models" folder is the
DAE file and in the "images" folder are the textures.

4. Open Blender and import the file as "Colada 1.4 (.dae)"

5. Then we will have our model in Blender, with their textures applied.
Here's a quick rendering of the import
All you have to do in Blender is adjust the lighting, and other parameters for our scene.
I hope this is helpful!

I got it from this site: http://alexvaqp.googlepages.com/sketchupblender

Wow... I still feel hurt

I just compiled the PDF so you could have pictures & a downloadable reference document... I had everyone's best interest in mind, honestly. I guess I'll just stick to the FPSC forum.

You've been here a little over a year, that doesnt really count as a veteran user in my books. I never said it was a virus, but the way you seemed to be urging people to download it and how excited you seemed over a PDF was suspicious. Sorry if a lot of others know you, but I dont, and would have preferred to have been safe than sorry.

Its common courtesy to post a link to the source anyways. Give the author credit.

Well firstly... I had been searching for this method sense before I got FPSC... So I was really excited, that's why I was urging everyone to download, really. There has been a lot of hubub about getting SketchUp into programs like Dark Basic and FPSC, so I thought I'd help.

Second, I got the tutorial from this site and I will put it on my original post (Though I kinda find the lack of good grammar frustrating) Here you go (The link was in the PDF, btw): http://alexvaqp.googlepages.com/sketchupblender

Thanks for posting this Wraith Staff. I was toying with SketchUp a while ago, and it's a fun tool. Making levels in this is very easy...

@ Ruccus - I touch harsh maybe? Being concerned is appropriate, but your posts did come across as a little harsh. ANYWAY no-one is dead
