For a school project I've been creating a series of video tutorials about 10 minutes long each, teaching the techniques behind modeling with Wings 3D, although the concepts can be used in any modeling package. I go through everything, from navigation all the way to animating and rendering a scene with the help of 3ds max.

Currently I have about 50% of the entire series done, about 45 minutes worth of footage, all with informative call-outs already placed. Only the first part so far - navigation - is 100% done, with music and final tweaking / menu images.

Ill be making a subdomain off of my own website to house this video series, along with a written tutorial on 3D terminology / getting wings 3d set up, and brief written intermission tutorials (like a paragraph or so) summing up what the previous video covered and reinforcing any important ideas.

Ill also be uploading every tutorial to You Tube to increase the user base these hit. The first part is already uploaded, and can be found in the link at the end of this post.

I know a voice-over would make them a lot better but my computer just doesnt seem to like taking mic input, it always turns to static after a few seconds of recording. Possibly in the future.

C&C welcome. Please dont forget to rate and if you can, comment, on the videos on youtube. The more popular they become, the more people they'll help.

Part I: Navigation

Part II: Deformation (1)

Part III: Deformation (2)

Very good tutorial Ruccus. I only briefly skimmed it, as I am an avid wings3d user myself. I already learned a view things from your tutorial though(virtual mirrors, did not know about those!). The cutouts are very well done and explain things quite clearly. The music is also a nice touch, as otherwise it would be a bit boring. I think around 4:06 the music loop kind of breaks, so you might want to check that.

I will eagerly await your next tutorial!

Ruccus, I REALLY enjoy your tutorials but I was thinking of something : whenever you have the time (please don't feel like I'm trying to push you into making this ), could you consider making tutorials on how to model certain things ??? cause making tutorials for a certain program is kind of ... I don't know ... useless (please don't get offended, I know how much work u've put into these) but assuming people know the basics of a GENERAL 3D modeling program, I think it would be WAY MORE helping if you would instruct people on how to model a face, a head, body parts, etc. cause the anatomy is the hardest thing in a character and I simply LOVE your style and your characters

Could you help me treat my injured Dino-Fly ?

I've said it before that the next videos will be focusing on modeling a character, now that the basics have been covered. Thanks for the input though.

sorry but the tutorials will follow how I model my characters. My process:

- Concept Art
- Torso
- Arms
- Legs
- Hands
- Feet
- Head
- Face
- Accessories
- Rig Test
- UV Map
- Texture
- Final Rig

Again no guarantee if / when Ill finish these. But Ill try.

Sorry but I dont have time right now. I've got 5 films I need to get shot, edited and finished before the end of June, along with two major ISU's and presentations to go along with them.
