This book has a dedicated section on DBPro network code.
I've decided to go ahead and start taking a look at the FPSC multiplayer code myself as I'm now quite happy with whats possible in FPSC single player gaming and the amount of support TGC are giving to this.
At present multiplayer seems to be more of an after thought just to get something functional in there which people can have a degree of fun with.
First things to address on the multiplayer list for me are:
- Allow dynamic entities which are updated for all players game states
- Allow scripts for doors, lifts, teleporters etc
Secondary things
- Create lobby to see connected players and chat before match starts
- Create external application for allowing selection of multiple multiplayer maps in same executable.
To my knowledge the primary things I've mentioned were in multiplayer once but got taken out somewhere down the line so it shouldn't be an unreasonable challenge to get them back in again.
