so~ ive been reading the tutorials but i have only some very vague ideas of which 3D applications are compatible to darkgdk... for example, is 3DS stands for 3D Studio Max or is it an extension name of some other 3D application program?

3DS Max 8 can export 3DS objects, which you can use in your DarkGDK projects. X objects are the preferable format when working with DarkBASIC or DarkGDK, however. 3D Studio can't export X objects without a special plug-in. Pandasoft's exporter is good for this purpose. (You can download from their site, http://www.andytather.co.uk/Panda/directxmax_downloads.aspx)

My site, for various stuff that I make.

well, ive tried to load a 3ds file to dgdk but it takes too long to load the file

also tried to export to .x but nothing comes out of my screen when i just wanted to load the 3d object only. are there any steps in configuring panda before it properly loads to darkgdk?

when you export the .x from 3ds, double click on the .x file and your object should load in DirectX Viewer. If you get nothing, then your .X is not a valid DirectX file and no matter what it won't show up any good in GDK.

I don't suggest using native 3ds files in GDK. loads up too slow. Even .X ASCII are pretty slow, especially for objects with many polygons. Best format is .X BINARY.

I have converted various 3ds files to .X but I am using Deep Exploration. Its a bit expensive but totally hassle free.

If you can't manage to solve your problem, send me a small 3ds sample file and I can convert it for you. If you like the outcome then you can invest in DE...
