Hi everyone, its been a while since I've been on these forums, I've not had much time to be honest. But I'm back now and I just wanted to show people what I'm working on at the moment.

Its a sitcom called The Hit Squad - based around 4 washed-up songwriters from the 80s trying to get back their fame, fortune and their Jack Daniels sponsorship.

I'm always looking for people to get involved with my work so if you think you can help (animating sprites, helping write a custom game engine for the sprites, backgrounds, physics system, scripts, anything!) then please don't hesitate to get in contact with me.

Thanks for taking a look

That's pretty neat. Ever since I saw Code Monkeys on youtube I've been thinking about doing something like this. It will be interesting to see how you get it to work.

I'm not a real programmer but I play one with DBPro!

Thanks very much. Unfortunately I saw Code Moneys after starting this project and got very irritated. Fortunately The Hit Squad has advantages: We're actual machinima - Code Monkeys is animation made to look like it runs from a videogame.

We're full length - 25 minutes long, so we can have full storys and develop the characters a little more than CM.

The Hit Squad is a musical, so there's lots of great tunes to accompany the japes!

We're not sponsored by G4. I don't see why that is a plus, I just thought i'd mention it.

Currently there's 4 scripts written with loads of geeky pop culture references (from Mario, to Alison Moyet, from Quantum Leap to Scooby Doo!) so there's something to enjoy for everyone! I'll keep a little blog on here to keep people updated, thought it may be of interest to people. If anyone wants to voulenteer help with this in any way then dont hesitate to contact. There's no money involved (if I do make money then people are more than welcome to have a share!) but there's definately a credit for people!

Is this being made in dakbasic?

I have never heard of anything like this being done in darkbasic though I'd be happy to see someone try.

Sounds like an interesting concept, good luck with it.

Hi there,

thanks for the best wishes!

Its made between a few different programs at the moment, I'm testing out all of them to see which is best, but not being a programmer means that I have a limited scope in what I can do. I'd ultimately like to get someone with a knowlege of platform games to create a custom engine for the system to be able to have the flexibility that I need.

I'm looking for a system that works like a platform game, but with the ability to record movements for each character, go back and record the movements for the second character and then, later be able to tweak the timing/recorded paths of the characters to syncronise with the sound. I'm not sure how complicated this would be. If anyone has an idea, or would like to have a go then I'd be a) grateful and b)willing to give royalties and credit for their efforts!

is it being made in a TGC product?
cos if it isn't, it doesn't belong here. It probably Doesn't anyway (This board being for Games/Applications made in TGC products.)

Your signature has been erased by a mod - 340 KB is a little big don't you think?

I agree with blobby, except that tech-demos (and perhaps even animated shows) can go here. I thought the intro was programmed in DBC/DBPro and the show would be as well.

Doesn't seem to be, so not so excited. But good luck.

If it's not, don't fret. Post in programming talk instead, where all the other language WIPS go.

hey, sorry taken a while to get back. I suppose it'd better be moved to the programming thread then as its not exclusive to anything at the moment!

But, yeah, don't worry about moving it, hopefully people will still be interested even though its not exclusive to their platform of choice!

Yeah, the same happened with my game. However, the large amounts of interest you get in work in progress fades away to near nothing when it goes to programming talk. Thats because not many people go there.

This is a frickin great idea and I know you'll go far with it. Awesome stuff!!

Great idea to have it where you just move the characters one by one yourself. Make it so that you have a green-screen background and then combine everything in layers. You just hit the arrows keys and and enter to make the persons mouth move or something like that. x_x

If you need a side-scrolling maker please look up www.clickteam.com and check out Clickteam MultiMedia Fusion 2 or The Games Factory 2. They are both worth it, and you will be able to create everything with just clicking and dragging. You can even do the characters right inside the program (it doesn't have too bad of a built-in pixel art creator thing).

Cheers
I've actually already got a celebrity attached to it and a proper animation company, Hopefully we'll have a producer by the end of the week. Its all going rather fast!!

Hopefully we'll still be able to keep it Machinima whilst having some pro animations for all the character movements

anyway, thanks for the support!!

keep an eye out!!!

That is just tight, dude. Madeline McCann is a child who was taken and to post something which is about is as offensive as making a joke out of the Twin Towers. So just watch what you make dude.

I agree, its no joke. Madeline McCann is a child. And probably was taken. Or accidentally killed by her mum and dad. One or the other.

I'm too scared to make jokes about the twin towers, they're bigger than me. Or, at least, they used to be.
