Hey guys. I just bought the economic stimulus bundle from Daz today and I been messing around in Hexagon and it has been easy to learn so far. This is my first gun in Hex (actually it is my second but after nearly finishing my first without saving, Hex crashed so I started over ).

This took me around 30-40 minutes and is 591 polys triangulated. I still need to learn how to UV map in Hex though. Tell me what you think of it.

It's OK, but the front has too many polies. It doesn't need so many. The "thing" (forgot its english name) should be more round not so eliptic. Also IMO 4 segments in the middle are to much.
Can I see some pics from other views?
But still it's a good model.

Make games, not war.

Thanks for the crit. Don't really know much about guns so I have no idea what the "thing" is either but I'm guessing you meant the thing in the front. I tried to fix it and change the amount of poly's but I think I should just make it a separate mesh, would that be better. I also combined the 4 segements in the middle to one.

Just have the barrel to be a seperate object and it will save you polys

Yeah thanks, I made it into a separate object. I also created a UV map and it took me all day to learn how to UV map in Hex . I never tried UV mapping using seams so I had trouble learning at first but I eventually got it to work. But I may have missed some polys that aren't to noticable and I don't feel like fixing it.

Anyways, today I am trying to learn how to use gimp to texture this, I haven't done much yet, just some of the front part. It's a crappy texture though.

It's sort of hard to see the texture so here is a better pic.
