I saw Hybrid's game at the end.

This should be placed on the site like on the FPSC x10 site; there's a video you can play that gives you an introduction to the engine.

Nice video but I think that the "pacing" was a bit slow when going through some of the DB and DBP games. In general i felt that the video needed a cool rythm or soundtrack when the voice over wasn't speaking.

I also think that something should happen when the video is done. All I saw where some links for other (irrelevant) videoes. Get in links for Dark Basic and FPSC products. Start selling!

The video is a good start but I believe that you could create even more buzz with some small adjustments.

Nice video. I think, though, that it sounded way too much like an infomercial.

That voice just sounds like the same voice used when Paid Programming is on TV.

Haha...that's what I thought. It sounded like a voiceover for a new brand of detergent.

I was watching the video and it said

Quote: "Talented Artists and Musicians can publish their own creations into the TGC store"

Will the store now offer music?

argh if i hear that accent again when i open IE im gonna go crazy.

i mean, its ok if your brought up to speak that way, but TGC are british, and most of us have a little or no accent, which is what the video needs. it would be a LOT less annoying

You should be as the only user name listed in the forum shots.
I guess that is one time where quadrouple posting paid off.

It may be easier for British people to understand an American accent than it is for Americans to understand a British accent.
That guy had no accent really. (ie southern, northern, cajun, ebonic, etc)
I thought his message was easy to understand, and I guess successful communication is more important than accents.
I mean, what difference does an accent really make if you can easily understand what they are saying?

It can irritate you.

The guy doesn't have an accident but the pitch in his voice is annoying.

I think the video should start paused. That way every time I go to the site I don't immediately hear him lol.

You can't hear your own accent? Holy ****, and all these years I thought the British were doing it on purpose.

[/sarcasm]

Look, I didn't notice an accent from the voice, probably because I'm American and I grew up around EVERYONE talking that way. (Well, not THAT way, but you know what I mean)

The only thing that got me was his "BUY-NOW!" tone of voice, lol.

It makes a huge difference because accents have connotations for most people.

I think the type of accent used on the video, but more specifically the style in which it is delivered, would have a negative impact on some.

That said, I'd imagine that the US is by far TGC's biggest potential market, and it's therefore understandable that they'd go for a US accent.

I just wish they'd got Kathleen Turner to do it.

Not everyone is going to like the voice accent. I chose it and used this web site to find the artist;

http://www.voice123.com

Maybe you can tell me who I should have used? I'm open to better suggestions. But you'll need to get EVERYONE to agree your choice is best.

The aim of the video is to attract new customers to our site. We made the decision to auto play it so that users would not by pass it and maybe leave the site before knowing what we are about. If you have a link to us maybe you can select a different web page on the site?

Yeah Rick, next time get a sexy womans voice.
We'd like it Kilgore (kill the other ones while you're at it), but then the kiddies will be complaining that it sounds like their mum.

man it's so weird ... it's like those voices are ALL OVER !!! since I was a little child )) here's a list I can think of right now: Microsoft Windows & Corporation, TV Commercials, Ads, Shopping Centres, Movie Previews, Product Announcements, etc.

Could you help me treat my injured Dino-Fly ?

Narrating is harder than you think.
These guys should try to dub their voices to the video and see how well they do.

None of these modern day voice talents will ever hold a candle to Mel Blanc.

According to your ears, because an accent can only be contrasted with another. If you only ever hear one accent in your life you probably won't consider it an accent. To everyone else however, it is an accent.

You should have gotten the guy who does movie trailers: "In a world...where games ruled the earth...one website was there to answer the call..."

What's the big deal about the voice? It just sounds like "generic voice-over guy" to me. Great video though, I actually wish the video was there when I discovered this site back in 2005. I remember feeling a bit overwhelmed at everything available on the site. Kinda like, "oh my God, I need EVERYTHING!!"

voices123?

HOLY MOLY!

Those RATES are high.

$20 to $100 per minute?

And to think I offered free voice overs here and people rejected them.
WOW

Yup, voice actors can be quite expensive for indie developper with very low budgets... So always make sure you have some friends and a sound editor which can edit the pitch and such.
