Short question:

Can someone give me a tip of what program would let me play guitar or bass?

I have seen the "A place to start" topic but it doesnt say if any of them got guitar.

I am new to this too

Most sequencers support "external" audio samples. So you could download guitar samples from the internets and add them to a song with the sequencer of choice. If that is what you meant...

I believe normal instruments such as guitar and bass guitar would follow most sequencers as standard samples. So no need to download any extra files, unless you aren't satisfied with the ones accompanying the product of course.
