I've just waited 35 minutes for the map 'EFFECT-Water Puzzle' to compile for testing... at it's only at '43/171 Calculating Object Light'! Is it this slow for anyone else?

My Specs: WinXP/Vista [Dual Boot], GeForce 8800 GTS 1GB, IntelĀ® Core2 Duo CPU E6850 @ 3.00GHz, 2GB Ram, DX9.0c

1.You are talking in text speak. People don't like that and you don't have a max amount of characters so talk properly. People who are foriegn may not be able to understand you as well.
2.XP is better. Face the facts. Its more compatible with older programs and it can be ran on ANY computer. Vista on the other hand is slow, looks nice but i would rather have a speedy OS(XP) than a flashy OS(Vista)

Vista runs perfectly on my computer. Granted, it is significantly more powerful than the computer I ran XP on

Why is XP versus Vista being discussed on a forum for a Vista-only program. Aside from the fact that anyone my age 30+ will remember the "XP suxors, I'm sticking with '98 because it supports more programs" arguments.

Fact: 1GB of Ram is barely enough to support Vista, much less a development environment inside Vista.

Fact: Your video card is considered a high-end "consumer-card". Where as, a GTX is considered a low-end "developer-card".

-resolve these issues & your problems will severely decrease-

break it to make it.

Yeah, but the thing is that level still shouldn't take that long to compile - on my GTX it takes 30 seconds, and even on my 8600GTS it's quicker than 35 minutes for that level.

Do you have everything set to high (best quality, highest texture)?

True but the OP states that his computer has 2GB

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But in practice, there is.

Yeah, I saw that. Oops, but you'd still have a problem with 2GB. I swear FPSC is building, & when it runs out of memory, it dumps the data to a swap file. So, you're now compiling as fast as your "hard-drive". Measuring RAM in GB seems like a lot, but it really isn't. Cinema 4D will eat 6GB in any strong render. X10's doing the same thing.

break it to make it.
