I dont understand this keeps on telling me to get direct x I downloaded direct x sdk and it wont work >.> why?? How can I get it to work?

You don't need the SDK (Software Developers Kit) you need the redistributable version of the latest DirectX. Find it here.

It works both on WinXP and Vista.

You can put this installation in your game installer so that everyone gets easy access to it when playing your games. Many installer programs have an option to autorun an executable file and therefore launch the DirectX setup.
