I was working on blender, and I was looking at a UV mapping tutorial. In the tutorial, it had things that my version of blender didn't. So I decided to see if there was an updated version, there was so I downloaded it.

the new one is TERRIBLE! Almost everything is different, and no UV mapping!!!!!!

Does anyone know what version of blender works best?? It seems that the newer they get, the worse they become- and if not, does anyone know where I can download version 2.45 of blender?

Why did they change it? Well, thanks, now I have to find tutorials for version 2.46, most of them are for older versions...

Thanks!

Is the export option missing or is there an error?

The latest version of Blender has a good few changes to it's UV tools, mainly due to outcry of it's users. Blender's UV tools have always been sub par, and they are slowly, but surely, working to fix that.

That said, yes they moved the UV tools. As Tobi already pointed out, just press the "u" key while in edit mode and split your panel to lay out your UV's.

As for the DirectX exporting, I've upgraded as well and I still have DirectX as an option for exporting. Maybe try a reinstall, or a clean installation?

Yeah, you definitely have something wrong with your installation. Try doing a clean install (uninstall, check to make sure everything is gone, reboot and install again).

Newest version of Blender works fine under Vista as well. No problems here.
