hi, i have created a map, and used a brick wall (which comes in one of the model packs, not sure which one) and a layer above i made a small study room (no prefab). now, when i test the game i see the floor of the study room instead of the ceiling of my brick wall.

edit: right screen added.

this is my rifle, this is my gun,
this one's for killing, this one's for fun.

That's because you cant have two segments overlapping eachother.

And you've posted a pic of a dead guy.

You can have an individual ceiling segment but you will have to adjust the 'FPS' file details including the segment blueprint and segment visibility values.

@rosstradamus, okay, but, how do i do that?

No, no solution. When a character dies, all collision except floor is removed, meaning nothing, not even a wall, can stop it.

Check out the code snipit below which contains the custom 'FPS' ceiling segment structure I used for the individual ceiling segments for Model Pack 8. Use this structure to create your own ceiling segment 'FPS' files plus you can also adjust the height (Y axis) if you would like a lower ceiling.
This type of ceiling segment will sit just underneath any ceiling/floor which is now added by FPSC when placing rooms in the editor.
I suggest also downloading the 'Model Pack 8 and Bonus Egypt' PDF's from the Model Pack 8 page on the FPSC main web site which will tell you how best to use this type of ceiling segment.

I hope this helps you out.

i tried it, but it didnt work. the guide says that i need to go up a layer, and set painting mode to floors only. i did that, but when i painta floor then, it just overrides the floor that already is there.

and, another question: you gave me a wondrous script, but where do i put it?

I meant without changing anything, this guy is a noob, he may not know how to change scripts.

Don't pick 'floor only' mode and try again. Plus don't remove any floors on the level above because the ceiling will be added underneath the floor segments on the level above but you will not be able to see them being painted in the editor. Just follow the floorline of the level above when adding the ceiling to the level below.
I have just checked this and it works OK for me.

All the best of luck

me too, but i have to accept it, i'm not exactly an all-knower of FPSC...
i'd rather hear "newbie" though...

rosstradamus, it didn't work. but i just used a room section ("brick wall") to make my corridors. so i didn't do anything with the script.
i think i'm doing something wrong, and you already told me how to fix it, but will you please be so kind and tell me again?

Sorry mate, my tests were done using my own room segments and I have just tested it with some of the stock media rooms and you are correct. This is because for some reason the new upgrade now places a ceiling (floor from same room) on each room when placed in the editor.
It dosn't seem to want to work anymore with the stock media which is a shame because it used to work OK before this new upgrade introduced the automatic ceilings.
If I get some time I will look into this a little further and see if I can change it so that it can be useful again.

All the best of luck

using the ceiling of the brick wall
