Does anyone know how I could fire from an offset of a position based on the turret's orientation? I'm not too sure about how to do it.

Currently coding a game called FleetWars.

If you can do any models, reply to the FleetWars thread.

I know I can set the missile's orientation to the turret's orientation, but how do I offset it in front of the turret, like it's being fired from it?

Uh, your post has been up for like a DAY!!! you can't expect to get your answers THAT fast. I would say you would need to use the limbs. That would be probably the best idea.

I would say try some small scale stuff like make a box, make another box that is near it, and moves the same with the first box and try and get a sphere to come out of the second box.

As other forum members taught me, start out small and insert that into the big game!

Good Luck!

Personally, I don't really know. Check the information text thing, and search "limbs". I know there are a lot out there!

I would assume that the turret is a circle. Is that correct? And if you know the radius of that circle and the current angle of the turret, then you should be able to calculate the starting position of the missile.

Upon initialization of the missile:
1. position the missile at the center of the turret
2. set the missile's orientation (you said you know how to do this)
3. move the missile forward by the value of the radius of the turret

Now when you update it, you can just move it forward by velocity * time for a constant velocity missile.

Hey, programing maniac...

I know team requests aren't allowed, but this ones personal, so does it count?

I need another programmer, and you know how to use Dark GDK as well as I do, so... would you like to join my team?

Why not Aim, MSN, or yahoo? Soemthing EVERYONE has, I am not going to download x-fire, seems like a waste of space. I also don't really play games that much. Just get aim.

No way, AIM installs viruses. I tried it once, I found 12 different spyware programs, at least 5 keyloggers, and a couple malwares.

Then download pidgin, www.pidgin.com-- you can be on 60 different accounts at once, also, it DOESN"T install any viruses or anything- I know AIM does, just make an aim account, don't download it.

Or make an aim account, and go on www.meebo.com, you don't have to download anything and you can go on your aim account.
