I have some concept art, I was wondering if anyone could do it in 1,000 polygons or less, no texture.
You can do a texture if you want to, though.

Yes, I drew it myself.

I just made this in about 5 minutes. If you don't have the basic modelling skills to make a "dummy filler", then maybe you should think twice before attempting a game.

I would've helped you, I like helping people with this kind of stuff. But then you called people fools for NICELY explaining the rules and I lost interest. If i'm feeling really nice I might even do it later if you where to...

BTW that's a very nice drawing

I was kidding about that.

I like that model, It might be good for a small transport, if you can get textures on it.

And thanks, I did it in about 30 minutes. I had some weird spur-of-the-moment thing, it was originally for Infinity-Universe, but now that I'm developing my own game, I'm using it here...

I can model, but not anything I like... weird. I have absolutely no problem with programming.

I will believe you. Here is a shot of the model.

There is one thing, when i'm finished you must agree that this model is mine to do with what I please(sell, give away, ect.) and you must put me in the credits

Edit:
it's uv mapped i'll do the texture soon(a couple days)

Hmm, DB PROgrammer's looks more like the concept, but I like venge's too.

Maybe venge's can be a different type of ship, like a transport, as I already said, and DB PRO's can be the carrier.

DB PROgrammer, that's fine with me.

To be honest, when I said "angry fools", I meant my friends, not the people who responded to the incident in WIP.

They keep messaging me and talking in all caps, whining about the game not being ready to play yet.

Just so you know, I didn't save that ship model. I was only using it as an example of how easy such things are to make...Take a cube, subdivide it, move a few vertices around.

Well, if anyone would be willing to spend the time, could I see a fully textured, kinda high poly full game version?

I'd like it under 500 polys, please.

[EDIT]Never mind, I just saw that DB PROgrammer isn't done. Wow, I need to read.

DB PRO, could you smooth it out a little and add the hangar bays?

don't you mean flaten it out a bit?

I just tried to redraw your pic by hand onto paper, when you take all of it into account it looks a lot like a NASA shuttle but with fatter wings and no exhausts and tailplane.

how about this anyway? Just wainting for my ultimate unwrap to be unlocked and I can have a pop at a texture too. does it need to be a clean texture or has the ship been about a bit?

Ok, here is a updated version.

As you can see it's higher poly as you requested, I also tried to smooth it out a little and flatten it some.

That looks amazing DB PRO, at least for its poly count. I'd love to use it in the final game, especially now that you've included the armor plating and everything.

Penfold, can you maybe make the wings a big longer? They should be about half the length of the ship... Maybe there could be two models of the ship, one older, one newer. DB PRO's can be the newer, Penfold's the older.

Looks like I DID attract some great modellers. Don't bother telling me not to get cocky - I know. Maybe it was because the concept art looked good? I'll draw some more tonight, guys, if you want to make more.

[EDIT]Penfold, you can just make the ship longer, if its too much trouble to do it the other way.

Thanks, I love modeling low poly. You may use it in the final game but I must finish it first.

Hehe, I don't know about good, I like to think i'm ok at it though. Although I don't know about Penfold he may be good, I don't think i've seen his work before...*goes of to search all posts Penfold has made in 3d chat*

BTW I can try to make some more if you draw some more concepts

Not done vast amounts, although plenty of lightwave experience. most of my stuff gets half made and thats where it stops , usually due to the fact I can't find a decent UV mapper I like - until now, I've just ordered ultimate unwrap it has a really easy system to unwrap the models. I also found out that one of my friends has a copy of deep paint 3d which I think will make a good addition to my arsenal (I think it may be like z brush but not actually having ever seen z brush in action I cant be sure).

Once its all sorted out you should see some more models from. completed ones that is.

This is usually as far as I get before UVmapping Pees me off.

long enough now? Only thing that bothers me is the back and base are rather flat, not too much of a problem for the bottom but I have no idea how you want the back end.

Well, I guess that can do as a small troop transport, Penfold. Maybe if you texture a window on the front?

The concept art said its almost a kilometer long. Penfold, I think you should scale it down to 100 meters or so.

I'd like a hangar bay in the back, with two engines on either side. Thanks.

@Penfold
Yea, I know what you mean about the uvmapping it took me awhile to find one I liked. I use Wings3D now for both modeling and uvmapping, it's the best i've found.

@Zuka
What should the texture look like? BTW i'll change the back to add the engines and hanger.

Edit:

Here is the ship with the engines and the hanger added on. The poly count is going up now.

I directed the hangar on the back thing to Penfold.

I'd like the hangars on the wing things on your model, DB PROgrammer.

It really looks great untextured, so... how about white with an orange lateral stripe...?

Lots of multicolored windows? Yellow, red, orange, blue, whatever?

It's beautiful. Keep up the good work.

I hate to tell you this, but I've abandoned FleetWars. I can't do two games at once. Could you convert it into a high poly model? Around 5,000 polygons or so? Maybe smooth it out a bit, people will be seeing it up close and personal, maybe even walking on the surface of it.

And, wa-la.

This is why you never create models for free.
They go to waste

Zuka, DB PRO's precious time has been completely wasted. Good job.

Not really, this is why you never make models for people who aren't serious about finishing the game and haven't even gotten almost all of the programming done.

Hmm... I will take that advice, I guess I will just stick with free model packs of things I feel like making.

Why was your thread deleted Zuka?

Edit:
BTW my plans for this model is to finish it and then make a thread giving it a way, you may download it from there Zuka.
