Some of you may remember I was working on an enclosed elevator some time ago.
I had an idea on how to achieve this and got it working...up to a point, the theory was sound but I'm not a great scripter. So I enlisted the help of s4real to finish this one off.
As I liked the way that xplosys lift worked using PgUp/PgDn to move the elevator I used this to make a start on the lift.

Credits for the scripting go to xplosys, rolfy and s4real.
Cheezy muzak is by Nickydude.

To use the lift you use return to open and close the lift doors.
Use PgUp/PgDn to move the lift.
You must remember to close the doors before moving the lift.

As this is tricky to build a map has been included which has everything in place, this can be found in mapbank/rolfymaps.

The elevator has two floors and using the map you can just build your own scenery around it, the bravehearted can try to place all the media for themselves but please dont ask where it all goes its tricky, complex and since this was done a while ago I just dont remember half of it.

Very nice work rofy. But files are missing from the zip. I got missing object error dialog when I tried to open you demo map.

I quicly checked the folders, and it seems that the floor.x file is missing.

There is no floor.x file so it gives me a error
Edit:ok i made my own floor.x but there is no floor texture that came with it

Edit:ok made my own texture but the elevator kinda work's
I hit the page up key an ther floor move's up but not the elevator He will just keep going up thruw the roof then stop

Edit:He will just walk thruw the back wall of the elevator
an if i keep holding the page down key he will go thruw the floor an keep going

Hmmmm....I see now, this is made of 5 identical flat pieces, that detect the player, and move up accordingly......

Also, it doesn't have a dynamic collision problem, because it's in pieces, and isn't a whole.....

Very ingenious, Rolfy, great job......

I and Seth Black tried something similar to build a "enterable" car, but with no succes

I´ll have to try this.

As said in first post you need to close the doors to make it work.

I did change the shaft model which provides collision in this I'll take a quick look at that see if anything not right.
*Edit* Ok ran a quick check and collision fine for me, tested in v1.06 v1.07 v1.09 and v1.10, is anyone else having collision problem?
There is a way round this, you could remove the shaft and place segment walls around the outside of the shaft area, you would have to use segment that had no outer wall so it doesn't cut into the elevator itself you may evem have to move it a little to fit.
I'm not even sure if there are any single walls without outers in stock but if not I will be happy to create one for you folks if any more have this prob.

The lift 'cabin' is one single model it has three walls floor and ceiling with animated doors, this part of the lift has collision disabled throughout tho' it still uses 'associateplayer', the floor which is placed slightly below the cabin uses the usual collision and associateplayer that the stock lifts use.The shaft and the outer doors provide collision preventing the player from entering or leaving the lift.

So in effect there are only two models, the lift cabin and the floor that move up with player.

Wow, thats a cool elevator! Can you maybe make some more clean elevators? Like so one in a bank or something?

Looks like still using the floor you made for this, use the one provided in zip it may be a bit thinner than that one, also if your using the correct fpe for the floor and the map you should be getting correct texture by now, suggest you delete the bin and dbo files in the entity folder and replace your own floor.x with one provided. See if it works then.

Simply replace the textures, plenty of stock textures could be used to get what you want, just rename them to same as ones in entitybank/liftworking and overwrite them

The lift has to be set up just right to work if you change anything like the floor it prob will not work.

Make sure to use all the thing's that come with download.

I would redownload the lift del all off the old and replace them with the fresh download, open map and it should work.

Nice work on the lift, I have no idea how you did it(rotfl)

Best s4

GOTH 1 SNIPER: You deleted the .bin and .dbo files too? If not, you need to delete them.

If you use the 1.09, there is a file "FpsCreatorCleaner.exe" in C:\Program Files\The Game Creators\FPS Creator folder.

This will delete all .bin and .dbo files.
