Yes...well..squaresoft is just obbsessed LOL.

1 to 8 or 9 were 2D RPGs..They were oky, ppl say 6 & 8 are the best. Never played 'em.

lol, actually theyre are a total of 17 availble and declared titles to be played. The actual series started as an electronic replacement for story-telling RPGs, but it became so popular if it could have FF on it, it would sell.

hey is FF11 gonna be a PC game also...i know the betas are but i wanted to know if the final will be to...anyone know...

final fastasy VII is the best easyily it had everything in a lot of peoples opinion it remains the best game ever created, it is probally one of the best in my mind alongside things like MGS and MGS2

Hope they release a box set like they just have with Resident Evil (in JAPAN anyway). Resi 1, 2, Nemisis, Veronica, Zero etc. and some other special discs - Well done CAPCOM

I have to say though they are getting less and less fun in my opinion, Recently gone through Final Fantasy X International and it's 90% cut-scenes

Thought I was the only person in the universe who don't like.

I bought FF7 for PSX when it came out 'cus all the game magazines raved over it. But I found it was complete and utter bollox - you'd be better off playing pong, you realy would.

I also agree with Raven..90% cut scenes. Boring. That really makes me want to stay away from the other games. I mean, it makes it seem like a damn movie. You can't really *choose* where you go next, if you want to go back home, etc..unlike all the other great RPGs sorta...Oh well. I'll just stick to my great 2D RPGs I luv so much.

Man there is so much misinformation in this thread.

FF 1 - 3 were on the NES
FF 4 - 6 were on the SNES
FF 7 - 9 were on the PS1 (and were 3D, Morph)
FF 10 is on the PS2

The Gameboy FF games were renamed to Final Fantasy when exported out of Japan, I think they were part of the Mana series. Thus they were no FF game for the original gameboy. FF Mystic Quest was an American made FF, thus is sucked and I don't comsider it a true FF.

The FF spin-offs are as followed:

Final Fantasy Tactics - PS1
Ehrgeiz - PS1
Chocobo's Dungeon 2 - PS1 (the first one wasn't released outside of Japan)
Chocobo Racer - PS1

They've also released collection of past games:

Final Fantasy Athologies (contained FF 5 & 6 plus a music CD)
Final Fantasy Chronologies (contained FF 4 and Chrono Trigger)
Final Fantasy Origins (contained FF 1 & 2)


Please note that this list doesn't include any up and coming FF games.


Before you say anything, no, I'm not a die hard FF fan, I'm a die hard Square fan. My fav games are Xenogears, Front Mission 3, Chrono Trigger, Earthboud (only non Square RPG), and FF 6 & 7 (tied).

personally i liked FF9, but that was the only one... mainly for the movies actually - but the gameplay and stats were the simplest to manage and sort without needing a degree in bloody RPGs.

just seemed nice to play, and it wasn't linear really you could go anywhere do anything - the story was linear (i mean what games story isn't) but the actual games world itself was just totally open proveded you have unlocked it.

pitty for 10 they decided to just make it an extremely linear gameplay affair again and the battling just totally put me off 100%

I thought the battle system in 10 was really effective, for the fact that you could substitute fighters, and you actually got to fight as the aeons, although I did like watching the mini cutscene.

Yea, the story in 10 was way to linear, but I'd just take a break to recruit some blitzball players.

played 1-11(yes 11, its not great to state it short) plus i've played all the spin-offs (CD CR Erghiez(not techniclly a spin off, just includes a few FF7 Charachters FFT) and out of all of the FF2 Jap on the NES is the best, the experience system was and still is one of a kind, the way it calculates to give you attack if you attack alot or magic if your a pu........magic user. well i'm gettin FF10-2 in a few days(japenese of course, the rest of you can wait) and i'll see how that is(hopefully not as sad as FF10)

Emulators and roms are totally legal as long as you own the respective original game.

Same goes for DVD's etc, you are by law entitled to make a backup copy of any media you have purchaced as long as you do own it.

Geri, I'm holding a copy of it in my hands right now, Chronologies is FF4 and Trigger, maybe it's different in the UK, but I doubt it. You have a habit of misinformation on this topic.

The Final Fantasy series has been going downhill after 7, after that the story has suffered and that is one of the most important elements of a RPG.

True (Emulators are legal no matter what) but Geri is suggesting Roms as a way to obtain a game you don't have, in this case FF which is of course, illegal.

It was on the news that Austraila had introduced a law to state spam was illegal and people would be prosicuted for sending it. That's all i know I'm affraid

Yer Geri does seem to like trying to get himself in trouble. Especially stating he hacked DBC on the official forum, lol
