I wasn't sure what area of the forum to ask this... Seeing as it relates to 3D models more than anything else, I put it here.

I was wondering on the legality of using edited phototextures in commercial games. If I take a picture of, let's say, a Coca-Cola can. Then I edit the picture to say something besides "Coca-Cola", would it then be legal to use in a commercial game?

I guess my question is, is it ok to use phototextures of real products if you edit all of the trademarked/restricted stuff on them? Such as the brand name and images identified with that brand?

I would hazard to guess that if you remove all the trademarked stuff from the texture then you'd be fine.

Yeah, unless like, you use the can in some horrible way that would make people throw up whenever they saw a coke can. Otherwise they should be happy!
