3 Dimensional Chat / blender uv texture not working in dark gdk

Hi, I tried to load the model from this tutorial:
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro/UV_Map_Basics
(without the sky) in the GDK 03-Game Level Tutorial.

I attached the result in GDK to this post.
I can see the texture but it is all messed up.
Did anyone ever encounter this?

I got it. I used subsurf and "set smooth" after removing both it worked. Is this about subsurfing or a too high count of polygones? Or the combination of uv texture and subsurfing?
