I am buying a new comp and getting X10. I was going to get the Nvidia 8800GT, but now it seems the comp I am putting together may only have the option of the 9500 / 9600 series of Nvidia cards, specifically the GeForce 9500GS(512) and GeForce 9600GS(768).

Are these and other 9000 series compatible w/ X10?

Since the last post about graphics card compatibility from TGC was in 2007, could you consider starting a new, 2008 updated list.

Thanks

Yes they should work good

Go for a 9600GT/GS, its allmost as good as 8800GT.

I have a 512MB 9500M, I don't know if it works - but are there any demos I can try out? I mean if there are I can post up my results. But when I looked on the nVidia website the specs were similar to the 8600, except a bit lower of course - so I imagine it would run.

I have a 9800 GTX and it runs X10 extremely well, better than the 8800 GT I have in my closet.

I just tried the tech demo on my 9500M - runs alright, though not a perfect frame rate - despite running Crysis (demo) and Bioshock smoothly. Probably it's one of those tech demo things.

If I remember correctly the tech demo was a mixture of DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 and was made when FPSC X10 was in its infancy and doesn't even come close to the performance of the actual program, TGC really needs to make a new tech demo, no one should base the performance of X10 on the tech demo.

So all NVIDIA GeForce 9 Series will work with FPSC X10 ?

When you spot a sniper, don't stay in his scope or you will die.
Working on a FPSC X9 Game called "The Prisonner".

Presumably 9400 and up, reading posts on this part of the forum it sounds like 8400/9400 and 8500/9500 will need a few settings turned off to run FPSCX10 well, whereas 9600 and 9800 will run fine, am I right?

I tested an FPSCX10 game the used max-settings (the game was featured in the newsletter, it was call Star Bunker) and it ran slow, I later tested Alien eXcape, it ran faster. So according to one of Lee's posts, don't go mad on the settings and cheaper cards will run smoothly.

I tested these 2 games on a:

Acer Laptop
2.0 ghz Intel Core Duo 2
Vista Home Premium 32-bit
4gb DDR2
nVidia GeForce 9500M 512mb

FPSCX10 should theortecally work with that and anything better. Unfortunately I don't own the program, so I haven't tested it.

For the same reason sim city 4 is better than sim city 3000 I suppose. Even though it was like 2996 years after . Anyway to answer your Q: To see if a graphics card is good you compare things like clock speed, memory etc not the number of the card

I got a Geforce 9800GX2. It works without any problems
Got 4gb DDR2 Ram and an AMD X2 4600+

So it works on the 9 series.
And my friend use it on the Geforce 200 series and it works there aswell.

Okay well... I'm on a budget here and I was thinking of getting the
9600GT. Nvidia has that listed under performance in a card comparison
chart. I would presume its only a little ways underneath a 8800GT.
The 9600GT is also better than the 8600GT.

I like to use as little light as possible in my games and I intend
to use some realistic bloom and some water in Dusk. I would presume
that lightly stretching these features and giving you about 5 enemies
at once minimum... it should run at top FPS if not a little underneath?

I've seen the 9600GT take on COD4, Crysis, TF2, and Gears of War.
It handled these games super well. Will it put out for me in FPSCX10?

Nvidia says that you will get a 90% performance increase over all 8 series cards.

I'm really thinking about just buying a ATI Radeon 4850
and saying to heck with Nvidia.

I don't think a bug company like Nvidia is to much a fan of false advertisement...

I'm saving up for a PC with a 9600 GTS 1GB. I asked the company if a 512MB will run crysis well, and they replied: "If you upgrade the GPU to a 1GB 9600 GTS, it will run Crysis at mid with smooth performance. ANd if you set the specs to very high, It will run at a steady 20fps or so." Link:
