hmmm so my corrupt regular fpscx9, i lost my disk. . . if i were to install this in the same spot as my regular fpsc, and plug my serial key, would i have all the features opened up to me? or nay its not that simple?

Well i tried, i could get all of my media and such into the free version
but i couldnt update it, it killed the free version when i tried going to .09

I'm having some problems with the free version now, to say the least. When I installed it, therewas only the application in the folder. Shouldn't there be some folders in that folder, such as gamecore? I've tried following the instructions so I could get the stock colt with mp6 hands into the ww2 folder. Another problem: the program crashed on me and now it won't start up. The editor opens, so does the little FPSC title window or whatever you want to call it. But it never goes past that, it says that it's ready, but it's not responding. I reinstalled it, same problem, and a new one: the desktop icon won't go into the recycle bin. A window pops up and says that "This is no longer located in C:/Users/Public/Desktop/FPS Creator Free.Ink. Vertify this item's location and try again." Help. Please.

First reset your machine. Ensure you are running in Administrator mode and that UAC is switched off. Uninstall completely, then manually delete the FPS Creator folder. Also delete any short cut icon from your desktop if it is still present by highlighting it and pressing the DELETE key. When you re-install, install it to the default location of C:\Program Files\The Game Creators\FPS Creator. Proceed through the installation and when the installation finishes, click the FINISH button and then locate the new FPSC icon on the desktop. Double click the icon and FPSC should start-up and the editor grid appear. If you follow these steps and something goes wrong, let me know how far into the sequence you got and send me a screenshot of what you see when it starts to go wrong.

Questions:

1> Are you running as Administrator Mode?
2> Have you switched UAC off?
3> Did you run the installer as full Administrator Mode or Standard Mode?

The problem appears to be the Install Shield installer is not completing the installation because of your Vista configuration.

UAC hates Installshield, and so does a non-administrator account... So most likely he has UAC on, and is running a normal user account.

I just tried running the installer in administrator mode, and I got this (see picture.) The file FPS Creator Free still only has 4 items in it.

YOu get that when you try to use the installer on standard user mode (as it cannnot write the DLL to the folder). You need to launch the installer as an administrator. If need be, create a new Administrator account and install FPSC Free to that user profile.

Sadly, this beta test keeps going crazy on my computer. Everythings all glitchy, when I click something the whole segment screen goes shaky, when I look at the map from a different angle, it still shows segment, and the last time I tried to get onto fps creator it automatically shut down saying 'Error 101 occured'.

And if you are thinking my computr is rubbish, it's not. It is an advent 250gb hardrive and 2gb ram. I also have a 19 inch wide screen.

WOT THE HECK!! On beta version you cannot go on build game thing without having to get something off the store. This litterally renders the usage of beta to a minimal.

hey i got a problem with free is says "runtime error 1505 desplay using 16 bit is not supported by available hardware line at 0" piz some1 tell me what to do im stuck

Well, I downloaded the free version and only got a limited amount of the total available entities/segments/etc. Then, when I tried to update it to 1.12, all of the default character entities were made available. However, they were displayed as the "Add New Entity" icon and appeared invisible in test game.

Also, will buying the license off of the TGC Store allow free version users to make/sell their own games?

Um i downloaded it and i have DirectX 9.0c and my computer is up to the specs but it just says 'Latest DirectX Not Installed'. What the heck? Can somebody help me?

This is the free version. It is not actually the beta version. This thread has been used to get comments from those who were willing to to test it before it was officially released. However, I believe the free version is now officially out and it probably uses the latest update for FPSC. Also, what makes this a free version is that you cannot compile it to run on other computers. Doesn't that make since that it would have some features disabled or limitations?

If I'm not mistaken there are versions of 9.0c that have later dates. You may not have the latest version of 9.0c necessary. Go to MS web site and download the latest version. I am not sure which date Lee recommends but I know he moved the date back to an earlier one, but the newest one should work anyway. I believe it might be January or February of 2008, but the older one that will work might be a couple of months earlier. Seems like I remember it having 2007 as the year.

The first time this happened to me I was also confused... I understand they wanted to save the number 10 for when Vista was introduced but surely they could have come up with a better system than calling them all 9.0c and just changing the date particularly when the system just references 9.0c and not which version of 9.0c you are using (well i suppose technically it does but unless you know what 4.09.0000.0904 means you just think you have 9.0c)....

If you are truly the Dark Master of Evil shouldn't you be able to press the edit post button?
Even if you are on post approval you can still edit your posts.
If everybody posted that many times in a row myself and my fellow moderators would get nothing done.
I know Lee has posted this over and over but I'll try it again.
If you are running Vista you MUST have UAC allow you administrator access.The casual user access doesn't allow you to install the proper files.

WHen i install MODEL PACK & into fps creator free....
THEN IT IS JUST WHITE SEGMENTS
ITS THE WHITE SEGMENTS BUG!
So now i had to download FPS Creator Free again (redownload it)
Now the fps creator free had more megabytes then....
ehhh WHEN I DOWNLOADED IT!

I really think this is THE BEST IDEA for the peaple with no paypal or credit card(like me)i have updated it twice succesfully and i can use custom entity's and segments,
the only bad thing is i stil can't publish my games, and the creator sometimes freezes when testing my game but i have enough fun with just testing my games and creating my own models

Can't use Ply's mod either

I was wondering if someone could add multiplayer arena mapping to the next update for this, I believe it would make more marketing because some people only want to build MP maps. Could one of the programmers put this in the next FPSC Free update?
