Here is my situation; I am making a multiplayer game and I need to make the top part of wall fade into the ceiling. In other words, since my ceiling has a brick texture that is a dark brown colour, I want my (tan) walls to fade into the ceiling with a black colour. I want it to look like a shadow so you look up and you got the illusion that the tiles are connected to the wall if you know what I mean.

I have no major software, I made the walls, floors and ceiling from ms which turned out great. I got GIMP to try to shade this with no luck. If you can give me any help whether it be a free image program or a simple idea or tutorial to my question.

Thank you in advnaced,
Bryce
