Dark GDK / Problems with tutorial 'Getting started'

Hello guys,
I was working through the tutorials and as I finished this I wanted to try something own, starting with something small of course.
I used the code of the first tutorial 'Getting started' in a self created project, copied the images and so on. But as I tried to start it I just saw the black screen as if there wouldn't be any code. I tried differnet images but nothing changed. I even just left the code from the tut but that didn't change anything.
What am I doing wrong, are there any additional setting I forgot.
I'm using XP Prof, VC++2008Express

We'd need to see the code, I believe, before we can make a fair assessment.
